Job Summary (Purpose): The Maintenance Materials Assistant provides hands-on, cross-functional operational support across the storeroom, supply chain, and maintenance departments. Acting as a versatile assistant between these departments, this role ensures materials are properly organized, tracked in Megamation, and readily available to keep operations running smoothly. Designed for a highly flexible and dependable individual, the position assists with inventory control, material handling, and local logistics where support is needed most.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Follow safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times.
- Assist with storeroom organization, inventory placement, labeling, and maintaining designated storage locations.
- Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory, and inventory accuracy.
- Update item locations, descriptions, equipment relationships, and other inventory information in Megamation.
- Assist with identifying duplicate, obsolete, excess, and unidentified inventory.
- Receive, stage, deliver, and put away incoming maintenance parts, supplies, and materials.
- Help prepare, gather, and stage parts and materials for planned maintenance work.
- Make local supplier, vendor, and store runs for urgently needed parts and supplies.
- Deliver parts, tools, and materials to Maintenance and other areas of the facility as needed.
- Assist with general organization and housekeeping of the storeroom, maintenance shop, and related storage areas.
- Provide non-skilled labor and general support to Maintenance as directed.
- Assist Supply Chain with receiving, material movement, inventory projects, and other duties as workload requires.
- Work closely with Maintenance and Supply Chain personnel to help ensure parts and materials are properly identified, stored, and available when needed.
- Responsible for verifying incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips and reporting any shortages, damage, or discrepancies to SCM.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience (Minimum Required):
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or maintenance setting is a plus but not required.
- Previous 2 – 3 years experience operating a forklift, is a plus.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license, in order to operate company vehicle when required.
- Strong work ethics and willingness to learn.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Desired):
- Able to work effectively with constant interruptions and extended shifts.
- Able to effectively problem-solve and make independent decisions weighing available information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must possess a strong willingness to adapt and provide hands-on, cross-functional support wherever needed across the storeroom, Supply Chain, and Maintenance.
- Comfortable using computers, where Megamation or inventory experience is a helpful plus, but not required.
Physical Demands (Typical):
- Work extended shifts as necessary.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks in a hot, dusty, or noisy environment.
- Comfortable working in a hot, dusty, and loud environment.
Work Environment (Typical):
- Indoor and outdoor work required.
- Exposure to loud machinery, temperature fluctuations, and industrial chemicals.
- PPE must be worn as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.).
