Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Description
This Registered Nurse position focuses on delivering safe, evidence-based care by collaborating closely with physicians to implement treatment plans, prescribe and manage medications as authorized, and provide comprehensive patient education. The role emphasizes clinical judgment, patient counseling, and care management to support individuals with acute and chronic conditions.
Responsibilities
- Prescribe medication dosages, routes, and frequencies under physician orders, taking into account patient characteristics such as age and gender.
- Develop individualized treatment plans under physician direction, using scientific rationale, established standards of care, and professional practice guidelines.
- Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost within the scope of practice and as legally authorized by the physician.
- Counsel patients on prescribed drug regimens, including correct usage, possible side effects, and potential interactions with food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies, as directed by the physician.
- Recommend interventions to help patients modify behaviors associated with health risks, following physician guidance.
- Educate patients and their families on self-management of acute and chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to each patients specific needs and circumstances.
- Participate in care management activities to coordinate and optimize patient care across the continuum.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all patient assessments, interventions, education, and outcomes in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
Essential Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- At least 3+ years of nursing experience.
- Proficiency in care management, including coordinating and monitoring patient care.
- Ability to apply scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines when implementing treatment plans.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills to support safe medication prescribing under physician orders.
- Excellent patient education and counseling skills, with the ability to explain complex medical information in clear, understandable terms.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in medication management, documentation, and communication with the care team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience counseling patients on medication regimens, side effects, and interactions with supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
- Demonstrated ability to support behavior change interventions related to health risk reduction.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Work Environment
The position follows a consistent daytime schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., including a 30-minute paid lunch period. The work environment supports a balanced schedule while providing direct patient care in a professional clinical setting. You will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals, use standard nursing equipment and clinical tools, and work within established protocols and guidelines to deliver high-quality patient care.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Syracuse, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
