About this role

Leadership made right. At Sidecar, we don’t just run shifts — we’re revolutionizing the way people experience doughnuts. Everything is made from scratch, in small batches, with the best ingredients we can find. On your shift, that standard is yours to hold: for the product, for the store, and for the people working beside you.
If you set the tone of a room the moment you walk into it, take pride in growing people, and want your work to be the reason someone’s day got a little better, read on.
Why Sidecar

Our mission is simple and ambitious: revolutionize the way people experience doughnuts. We pursue that every day through three commitments — bringing people together, creating meaningful experiences, and crafting everything with excellence. For a Shift Lead, all three are yours to carry: you bring the team together, you protect the guest experience, and you hold the line on excellence when a manager isn’t on the floor.
We aim to be “The Happiest Part of Your Day,” and that goes for our team, too. Sidecar runs on five values:
•     Warm. Kindness in action — toward guests and toward the team you lead.
•     Fun. We’re serving doughnuts, not curing cancer. The work is serious; the spirit is joyful.
•     Fresh. Stylish, refined, and original. What we make is distinctly Sidecar — never a copy.
•     Creative. We experiment and refine so we never grow stale, while staying true to our roots.
•     Excellent. High standards, no compromises — in product quality, consistency, and cleanliness.
What You’ll Do

Shift Leads support the Management Team with the overall health and positive growth of the team and the store. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•     Own the shift. Run day-to-day operations while you’re on the floor — the flow, the pace, and the standard — so the store runs the same whether a manager is there or not.
•     Build the culture. Create and maintain a safe, positive, team-oriented environment where every teammate feels heard, seen, and valued.
•     Train and develop. Help build a full, highly productive team, and coach teammates who add to Sidecar’s culture and growth.
•     Guest experience. Protect every detail that makes a visit feel like Sidecar — a warm greeting, the right music vibe and level, product sampling, a clean and full display, clean store and uniforms, and fresh, great-tasting product from start to finish.
•     Product standards. Keep the doughnut display full of high-quality, fresh doughnuts at all times, and step onto the line yourself when the shift needs you.
•     Clean store, always. Hold the store to Sidecar’s cleanliness, health, and food-safety standards on every shift.
•     Control costs. Contribute to hitting the targets Sidecar sets for labor, food, and store maintenance.
•     Drive sales. Contribute to monthly and yearly sales growth against the targets set by Sidecar.
•     Administration. Complete orientation, training, ordering, invoices, and time audits accurately and on time.
What You Bring

•     Experience. At least 1 year in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant or bakery preferred — ideally in a lead or supervisory role.
•     Developing people. Experience training and developing a team, and real satisfaction in watching someone get better at their craft.
•     Quality control. An eye for what meets the standard, and the confidence to say so kindly and clearly.
•     Inventory control. Comfort managing product, ordering, and waste against a target.
•     Sales growth. The ability to spot opportunities to grow the business — and to act on them.
•     Humble. Coachable — you welcome feedback. A team player who thinks in “we,” not “I,” and looks for ways to serve the guests and the team.
•     Hungry. Self-motivated and inspired to do the job well. You know your role, commit to it, and take initiative for more responsibility.
•     Mindful. Self-aware, people-aware, and situationally aware — you read the room, stay poised under pressure, and steer moments toward a good outcome.
•     Reliability. Dependable, on time, and ready for early-morning, weekend, and holiday shifts.
•     Standards. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices (or willingness to get certified).
Compensation & Growth

At Sidecar, your pay grows as your craft does. The more you master, the more you earn — and leadership here is a path, not a title. Starting pay varies by location and follows the local market.
•     Start strong. Shift Leads begin at a pay rate set by location and experience, with hands-on training across our stations.
•     Earn raises. Learn additional skills and stations, and your hourly base pay increases.
•     Grow into management. Shift Lead is the launch point for Manager-in-Training, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager.
Benefits

•     Health insurance. Available to full-time employees.
•     Paid vacation. Available to full-time employees.
•     401(k) with match. We match up to 4% of your contributions.
Perks

•     On us. A free doughnut and coffee beverage every shift you work.
•     Employee discount. On product and merch.
Why You’ll Want to Stay

This is a place where craft matters, where the shift you ran is the reason someone’s morning went right, and where the team actually likes showing up. If leading people and holding a high standard both mean something to you, you’ll be at home here.
