About this role
NSF is in search of a Technician II in the Preparations Lab. The Technician I I will need to have basic lab skills and an aptitude for understanding and using machines or tools. Experience with plumbing equipment a plus. Great entry-level position to learn about product certification work and to start a career in the sciences for a mission driven company.
- High school diploma
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to organize work and maintain work flow with minimal direction.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in a physical science with NSF Prep Group work experience or one year with similar lab experience.
- Good organization skills and a strong ability to take direction from multiple sources.
- Familiarity with quality procedures.
- Familiarity with general laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Be able to manipulate and read syringes in order to transfer small volumes of liquid.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Light physical effort required for most sections (ability to lift and manipulate test samples or move 5 to 10lbs. from one area to another).
- Medium and heavy physical effort for one section of the prep group (ability to lift and manipulate test samples or move up to 20 lbs. alone, or more with group or mechanical assistance).
- Standing for long periods of time is necessary periodically.
- Working with various organic solvents, chemical analytes, reagents, acids, and bases is necessary.
- Safety glasses must be worn at all times in lab areas
