Job Summary
Our Commercial business manages the company's worldwide commodities, supply, and marketing needs. We are seeking an Analyst, Commercial Compliance Europe, to join our London team, and who will work with the Senior Advisor, Regulatory & Compliance Europe.

This is a junior/early-career position intended to provide development opportunity for someone with limited professional experience who is interested in building expertise as a regulatory and compliance professional within the UK and EU wholesale energy markets.

The ideal candidate will have 1 or more years of experience in the UK and EU wholesale energy markets, preferably in a regulatory and/or compliance role. This position will support the UK businesses on commercial compliance and regulatory policies, processes and procedures, and reporting of wholesale energy transactions under REMIT/REMIT II and EMIR, including crude, natural gas, and LNG. The Commercial Regulatory & Compliance function collaborates with a diverse range of stakeholders to promote a culture of compliance and proactively identify and address potential risks. By providing guidance and training, we enable our business to operate confidently within the regulatory environment.

Position Overview

Your responsibilities may include:

- Coordinating the preparation, review and submission of regulatory reports arising from ConocoPhillips activities and licensing obligations in EU/UK, including monitoring applicable reporting deadlines and formats
- Conducting horizon scanning of regulatory changes across the EU and UK which may affect the organisation’s regulatory obligations including reporting requirements
- Providing guidance on commercial compliance policies, laws and regulations impacting the ConocoPhillips UK companies, including current wholesale energy and financial regulations, legislation and potential developments in the EU/UK commodities markets
- Acting as a point of contact for compliance and regulatory matters, while maintaining discretion and judgment in safeguarding confidential materials
- Ensuring compliance with MiFID II, EMIR, REMIT, MAR, Bribery Act, Modern Slavery, and ECCTA regulations through appropriate monitoring and mandated reporting requirements
- Evaluating and anticipating the potential impacts of proposed regulatory developments and attending applicable industry forums
- Collaborating with the internal stakeholders, including the front office, Legal, and the corporate Commercial Compliance team, in support of the Commercial business’ goals
- Assisting in providing guidance, preparing and disseminating communications to internal stakeholders, including front office, and the ConocoPhillips UK companies
- Ensuring that the business maintains an appropriate suite of compliance and regulatory policies and procedures
- Developing and providing compliance and regulatory training to applicable staff

Basic Requirements:

- 1 or more years of work experience, internship, or placement, in the EU/UK energy commodity sector

- Exposure to, or a strong interest in developing knowledge of EU/UK commodities markets, including gas, crude, & LNG

Preferred Requirements:

- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS office suite of products
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple regulatory obligations and mandatory reporting deadlines
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills

- Ability to interpret complex legislation and communicate clearly to non-expert audiences
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and advocacy skills
- Demonstrates a high level of initiative, urgency, and adaptability in fast-paced environments
- Ability to assess the impact of regulatory developments and support the implementation of practical business solutions
