What We’re Looking For:

Michael Baker is seeking a team member with a proven background in transportation engineering. The successful candidate will serve on Michael Baker’s PA Turnpike General Consulting Engineer (GCE) team, a role the firm has proudly served since 1956. Our GCE team provides a diverse range of technical expertise and services, while serving as trusted advisors to advance their strategic plan goals and objectives.

What You’ll Do:

- Serve as a project manager and/or technical leader for highway or bridge transportation engineering assignments.
- Support the PA Turnpike executive team and staff across design, construction, facilities, and roadway maintenance initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and industry experts nationwide to develop innovative solutions and deliver successful project outcomes.
- Apply strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to complex transportation engineering challenges.
- Lead and manage assignments of varying size, scope, and complexity while maintaining quality, schedule, and client expectations.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, presenting technical concepts and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and industry partners.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.

- Participate in a flexible hybrid work environment, with in-person collaboration at the PA Turnpike Central Administration Building in Middletown, PA.

What You Need to Succeed:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field with commensurate experience.
- 10 + years of related experience
- Experience working with toll agencies, state DOTs, FHWA or similar transportation agencies.
- Possess strong critical thinking skills while striving for quality and client satisfaction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report preparation, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong track record of project delivery.
- Ability to be self-motivated, work in a dynamic environment alongside clients, possess strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Experience working on PA Turnpike total reconstruction or other engineering design projects is desired but not required.
- Experience working on asset management or capital planning is desired but not required.
- Experience with tolling or similar operations is desired but not required.

Compensation

The approximate compensation range for this position is $125,000 to $190,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
