Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with variable start and end times. Occasional Saturday shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. may be required based on operational needs.

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, productivity, and performance of a team of approximately 16 Pharmacy Technicians within a high-volume outpatient pharmacy setting. This role serves as a key operational leader, ensuring efficient workflow management, staff development, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and exceptional patient service. Final verification of technician work remains under the authority of a licensed pharmacist.

What You Can Expect

As the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, you will provide leadership and direction to pharmacy technical staff while supporting operational excellence and a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, efficient, and sustainable pharmacy operations that directly support patient care and prescription processing.

Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day supervision and coordination for a team of approximately 16 Pharmacy Technicians.
- Monitor, prioritize, and optimize technician workflow to ensure timely prescription processing and service delivery.
- Support pharmacy operations by overseeing activities related to medication preparation, dispensing support, and prescription processing for pharmacist verification.
- Coach, mentor, and provide guidance to technician staff to ensure high-quality performance and professional growth.
- Coordinate onboarding, training, competency development, and ongoing education for Pharmacy Technicians.
- Develop and maintain employee work schedules to support staffing needs and operational demands.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, performance evaluations, corrective action processes, and other employee relations activities in partnership with pharmacy leadership and Human Resources.
- Monitor productivity, quality, and operational metrics and lead performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, organizational policies, and pharmacy best practices.
- Support inventory management, record retention, controlled substance documentation, and other operational compliance activities.
- Serve as a liaison between frontline staff and pharmacy leadership, fostering communication and employee engagement.
- Identify opportunities for workflow enhancements, process improvement, and increased operational efficiency.
- Ensure technician staff complete assigned duties and maintain established service standards.
- Assist with departmental projects and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

- Four (4) years of Pharmacy Technician experience required.
- Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

- Valid Pharmacy Technician Registration in the state of Idaho (or state of practice).
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with outpatient pharmacy operations, workflow management, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of pharmacy regulations, compliance requirements, and inventory management practices.

Physical Requirements

- Frequently communicates with patients, providers, staff, and leadership to exchange information and provide direction.
- Frequently performs fine motor tasks related to pharmacy equipment and medication handling.
- Continuously utilizes visual acuity to identify medication labels, colors, and package details.
- Frequently exposed to blood, bodily fluids, non-intact skin, or tissue.
- Occasionally ascends or descends to access inventory and supplies.
- Occasionally positions self to retrieve items from various storage locations.
- Occasionally performs repetitive movements.
- Occasionally exposed to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
