About this role
ROLE DESCRIPTION
At AT&T, we’re redefining the future of connectivity. At our core is a passion to serve our customers with products and services that create connections, improve lives, and allow millions to share the stories and experiences that matter. Join our team and bring your bold ideas, supporting and transforming our business across areas like marketing, finance, and more.
We’re transforming how we engage customers by evolving toward persistent, customer-centered journeys powered by data, decisioning, and orchestration. The CRM & Precision Marketing Data & Insights Lead connects marketing strategy with customer data and actionable opportunity intelligence – bringing forward the audience and evidence behind CRM and Precision Marketing opportunities: Who qualifies? How large and valuable is the opportunity? Who should be excluded? And how does it compare with other opportunities already available to the customer?
The successful candidate will combine strong analytical skills with lifecycle marketing acumen. They will independently analyze customer data, translate marketing hypotheses into defined populations and executable business logic, and create a systematic approach for comparing and prioritizing new opportunities against existing ones. Initially partnering closely with the team’s marketing analysts, the role is expected to grow toward owning both the definition of an opportunity and its analytical execution and measurement.
The role may recommend potential eligibility, entry, exit, and treatment criteria based on the analysis; final journey strategy remains with the appropriate journey and marketing owners. This role partners across the Marketing Growth Organization (MGO) – including Research, Analytics & Insights, Digital Personalization, MarTech, Go-to-Market Execution, the Chief Data Office, and key agency partners.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Audience & Opportunity Identification: Use customer and household data to identify, characterize, quantify, and proactively discover audiences for CRM and Precision Marketing opportunities across the full lifecycle.
- Opportunity Prioritization: Develop a systematic, data-driven approach for comparing new opportunities against existing ones based on audience size, customer value, business value, and incremental potential.
- Business-to-Data Translation: Convert business questions – who qualifies, how large, who to exclude, what conditions matter – into analytical requirements, defined populations, and executable business logic.
- Customer Data Analysis: Independently query and analyze customer, product, account, tenure, behavioral, transactional, and engagement data using advanced SQL.
- Audience Materialization: Translate analytical findings into clear, repeatable audience definitions and business rules, progressively owning the path from definition through activation as the role matures.
- Decision Support & Journey Criteria: Provide the evidence marketing and journey owners need to prioritize opportunities, and recommend eligibility, exclusion, entry, exit, and treatment conditions while owners finalize the strategy.
- Measurement & Data Quality: Partner with Analytics on test/control design and incremental measurement, identify data gaps, and ensure opportunity definitions support continuous learning.
QUALIFICATIONS – REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Systems, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in marketing analytics, customer intelligence, data science, or a related data-driven discipline.
- Advanced SQL skills with demonstrated ability to independently query and analyze large customer-level datasets.
- Experience translating complex business questions into analytical approaches, sized customer populations, and actionable recommendations.
- Experience developing audience definitions, eligibility criteria, exclusions, segmentation logic, or business rules, and comparing or sizing marketing opportunities.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to move beyond reporting to determine what the data means and what action it supports.
- Working knowledge of test/control methodologies and incremental measurement.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or a similar large-scale analytical platform.
- Understanding of CRM, lifecycle marketing, customer segmentation, and Precision Marketing.
- Ability to clearly communicate analytical findings and business logic across Marketing, Analytics, Data, and Technology teams.
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Experience in telecommunications, subscription businesses, or other industries with complex customer lifecycle and eligibility rules.
- Experience with Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Experience with customer journey orchestration, next-best-action, decisioning, or Adobe Experience Platform / Adobe Journey Optimizer.
- Experience with predictive modeling, opportunity sizing, or growth forecasting.
