The Quality Assurance Supervisor leads daily inspection activities on the production floor and oversees a team of quality professionals to ensure all products meet customer, engineering, and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role balances strict adherence to quality standards with the need to support production schedules. The supervisor provides direct leadership to QA Inspectors, the Quality Assurance Lead, and Quality Technicians, while partnering closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to resolve issues, drive continuous improvement, and maintain robust quality systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the daily activities of QA Inspectors, the Quality Assurance Lead, and Quality Technicians on the production floor.
- Schedule and allocate inspection resources based on production priorities, customer commitments, and capacity constraints.
- Oversee receiving, first article, in-process, and final inspections to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for nonconforming materials and quality concerns on the shop floor.
- Support and participate in root cause investigations, corrective actions, preventive actions, and customer quality issue resolution.
- Ensure all inspection equipment, including CMMs, optical measurement systems, and precision inspection tools, is properly calibrated, maintained, and used correctly.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to resolve quality issues while maintaining independent and objective quality standards.
- Track, analyze, and report quality metrics such as inspection backlog, first-pass yield, nonconformances, rework, and turnaround times.
- Support AS9100, NADCAP, customer, and internal audits by providing documentation, data, and process explanations as needed.
- Provide hands-on support for complex inspections and critical production priorities when required.
- Supervise and develop QA personnel through onboarding, training, coaching, performance management, and cross-training initiatives.
- Escalate significant quality, compliance, capacity, and operational risks to leadership in a timely manner.
- Support and help maintain calibration programs, nonconformance management processes, and other key elements of the quality management system.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of quality inspection or manufacturing quality experience.
- 2+ years of leadership, lead, or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria.
- Hands-on experience using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical measuring equipment, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
- Working knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Experience performing first article inspections and supporting calibration programs.
- Experience with nonconformance management, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Proven ability to lead, train, and develop quality team members in a production environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with Manufacturing, Engineering, and leadership teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Experience with AS9102 requirements and first article inspection documentation.
- Familiarity with NADCAP and special process requirements.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as Epicor.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) software.
- ASQ certification or similar professional quality certification.
- Experience with CMM programming.
- Experience with Keyence or MicroVu inspection systems.
- Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
Work Environment
This role operates primarily on the production floor in a manufacturing environment that supports aerospace products. The Quality Assurance Supervisor works closely with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing and Engineering, and regularly interacts with inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical measurement systems, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). The environment involves managing multiple priorities, supporting audits, and responding quickly to production needs while upholding rigorous quality and regulatory standards. Standard business hours are typical, with flexibility required to support critical production priorities, inspections, and audit activities as needed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
