This is a first shift position with a flexible work schedule; you can choose--a 9/80-with every other Friday off or a 4/10 Monday through Thursday.

BAE Systems is seeking a high-caliber Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of process, test, and manufacturing engineers supporting a critical Missile Defense program. This role is a key member of the leadership team, integrating with a cross functional team in achieving program objectives (including safety, cost, schedule, and quality) and organizing daily execution.
You will lead a team of approximately 12 engineers across multiple shifts, requiring a strategic leader who can balance the technical rigors of high-reliability defense systems with the operational demands of a high-growth production environment. You will be a primary driver for product manufacturability, quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership
- Manage and develop a team of engineers across work cells and shifts to meet production and business objectives. The team is responsible for creating and updating work instructions for production and providing technical support to both hardware and associated equipment.
- Manage team workload, prioritize projects, and ensure resource allocation to meet production and business objectives.
- Set performance expectations, conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and training to support team growth and accountability.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Working cross-functionally to ensure we have well developed equipment roadmaps that support the future technology demands of manufacturing. This roadmap also needs to include the life cycle management of the existing equipment.
- Drive conversations with design engineering on the front end of programs to improve product producibility and ensure we have process capability to support the needs. Participate in regular discussions with Engineering regarding their roadmaps to evaluate the impact to production.
Process, Procedures, Equipment, & Automation
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce labor costs.
- Oversee selection, installation, and qualification of manufacturing capital equipment and documentation.
- Manage preventive maintenance strategies and equipment uptime.
- Manage MES process & test procedure deployment, change orders, and automation.
Performance and Goals
- Shape the manufacturing technology roadmap with the manufacturing leadership team. Manage annual capital investment plans and proposals.
- Creating business justifications for capital investments to ensure the production line’s overall success. Ensure that investment projects are executed on cost and schedule.
- Monitor production metrics (COPQ, HPU’s, and DPU) and develop technical action plans to meet or exceed targets.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Associates degree with 10+yrs experience OR Bachelors degree with 7yrs experience
- Previous experience in mechanical, electrical, or optical manufacturing
- Cross Functional Team Management experience
- Talent Optimization experience
- Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement experience
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems using problem solving tools as well as coach/mentor the team on those tools
- Ability to facilitate executive briefings
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Formal continuous improvement training such as Green or Black Belt
- Work Instruction generation and understanding of MES systems
- Capital equipment roadmap development
- Successful improvement project execution
- Extensive process control experience, utilizing command media

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $132962 - $226035

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
