As a Business Intelligence Engineer II at Amazon, you will design, build, and deliver analytical solutions that empower teams to make smarter, faster decisions at scale. You will own key components of our data infrastructure—building data models, crafting reports, and developing dashboards that directly influence strategy and operations. This role offers the opportunity to work across technical and business domains, partnering with stakeholders to define the right questions and deliver clear, impactful answers. Key job responsibilities
- Design and build mid-to-large-scale business intelligence solutions, including data models, dashboards, and automated reporting pipelines, ensuring they are testable, maintainable, and performant.
- Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences
- Partner with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to translate ambiguous business questions into well-scoped analytical deliverables, recommending alternatives and anticipating future needs.
- Experience with AWS solutions such as lambda, S3, and Redshift, SNS
- Apply SQL, scripting languages (such as Python or R), and data visualization tools to develop metrics, uncover trends, and communicate findings that inform decision-making.
- Own the data lineage of your team's BI artifacts, understanding how data is generated, aggregated, and consumed—and proactively improve data quality, consistency, and operational reliability.

A day in the life
You might start your morning reviewing a dashboard you recently launched, checking data freshness and validating metrics against source systems. By mid-morning, you are deep in a design discussion with a partner team, aligning on requirements for a new analytical model. After lunch, you write and optimize SQL queries, test a data pipeline update, and draft documentation for a process you automated. You wrap up the day by sharing insights from a recent analysis with business stakeholders, fielding their follow-up questions and noting ideas for the next iteration.

Basic Qualifications

- Experience in analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc.
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience with SQL
- Experience in the data/BI space

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
