Position Summary
The Aesthetician & Laser Technician is responsible for delivering exceptional cosmetic skincare and laser treatments while ensuring patient safety, satisfaction, and results. This position combines advanced aesthetic services, laser procedures, patient education, and cosmetic product recommendations to enhance patient outcomes and contribute to practice revenue growth. The ideal candidate is passionate about skincare, knowledgeable about cosmetic dermatology treatments, highly skilled in-patient consultations, and committed to delivering an outstanding patient experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Consultations & Treatment Planning
- Conduct comprehensive skin assessments and aesthetic consultations.
- Evaluate patient concerns and develop customized treatment plans based on individual goals.
- Educate patients regarding treatment options, expected outcomes, risks, and post-treatment care.
- Document consultations, treatment plans, and patient progress accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure appropriate informed consent documentation is obtained prior to procedures.
Aesthetic Treatments
- Perform medical-grade facial treatments, including:
Hydrafacials
- Chemical peels
- Dermaplaning
- Microneedling (as state regulations permit)
- Customized facial treatments
- Acne treatment protocols
- Anti-aging procedures
- Maintain treatment rooms and equipment according to infection control and safety standards.
- Monitor patient comfort and outcomes throughout treatment procedures.
Laser Services
- Safely perform laser and light-based procedures, including:
Laser hair removal
- IPL photofacials
- Skin rejuvenation treatments
- Pigmented Lesion Reduction
- Vascular lesion treatments
- Fractional laser resurfacing (within scope and certification level)
- Maintain laser treatment logs and equipment records.
- Follow all laser safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Identify contraindications and escalate clinical concerns to supervising providers.
Product Sales & Revenue Generation
- Educate patients on physician-dispensed skincare products and treatment packages.
- Recommend products and services that support treatment goals and enhance outcomes.
- Promote membership programs, treatment packages, and cosmetic service offerings.
- Participate in practice initiatives to increase retail skincare sales and cosmetic treatment utilization.
- Assist with promotional events, patient education programs, and cosmetic consultations.
Patient Experience & Retention
- Build strong patient relationships through exceptional customer service.
- Conduct follow-up communications to assess patient outcomes and encourage continuity of care.
- Help maintain high patient satisfaction and retention rates.
- Address patient questions and concerns professionally and promptly.
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain active licensure and required certifications.
- Adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and state regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training, continuing education, and certification programs.
- Maintain treatment room cleanliness and professional presentation standards.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Required
- Current State Aesthetician or Medical Aesthetician License.
- Laser certification consistent with state and regulatory requirements.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in dermatology, plastic surgery, medical spa, or cosmetic practice.
- Experience performing laser treatments and advanced skincare procedures.
- Strong consultation, sales, and patient relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and practice management software.
Preferred
- 3+ years of experience in cosmetic dermatology.
- Experience with Hydrafacial, SkinPen, RF Microneedling, IPL, and fractional laser technologies.
- Proven track record of achieving cosmetic treatment and retail sales goals.
- Additional certifications in advanced aesthetic procedures.
- Knowledge of medical-grade skincare lines such as SkinCeuticals, Alastin, SkinBetter Science, Obagi, or similar brands.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Physical Requirements: Must possess manual dexterity to operate office machines including computers and calculator; stooping and bending to handle files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries. Includes handling of sharps and chemicals. Multiple staff demands and deadlines can trigger stress.
