Culinary Team Member – Cook 1

Down to Earth Cuisine runs an online meal delivery service out of Tukwila, and we're hiring a Cook 1 to help power our weekend production cycle. If you like the rhythm of a tight, repeatable kitchen schedule — shop, cook, deliver — and want to work alongside a Sous Chef who takes food seriously, this could be a great fit.

The weekly cycle:

- Friday: Shop and prep ingredients

- Saturday: Cook and package all meals

- Sunday: Deliver meals to client homes (personal vehicle required)

Pay & hours: $26–$28/hour depending on experience. Part-time, 18–24 hours/week to start (room to grow based on business needs and performance). Hourly, non-exempt.

Day-to-day, you'll:

- Cook from standardized recipes with consistent taste, quality, and presentation

- Handle sourcing and prep — proper storage, inventory checks, purchasing recommendations

- Portion and package meals accurately, including for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and low-calorie clients

- Keep the kitchen spotless and code-compliant

- Watch ingredient usage and help cut down on waste

- Communicate clearly with the kitchen team on any issues or delays

- Pitch in on catering or events as they come up

- Bring ideas to the table for new dishes or recipe tweaks

- Stay flexible for occasional evening, weekend, or holiday needs

What you bring:

- 3+ years cooking professionally in a high-volume kitchen

- Culinary training and a high school diploma or equivalent

- Solid grasp of food safety and dietary restrictions

- The ability to follow recipes precisely and adapt for portions or dietary needs

- A valid driver's license and your own vehicle (Sunday deliveries around Greater Seattle)

- ServSafe Manager Certification or equivalent is a plus, not required

- Nutrition/dietary knowledge is a bonus

On your feet, in the kitchen:
Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs, doing repetitive tasks like chopping and kneading for stretches at a time, working with commercial equipment (ovens, grills, fryers, mixers), and driving confidently in traffic for deliveries.
