Job Summary: The Quality Engineer plans, coordinates, and executes quality engineering activities that ensure products and manufacturing processes meet customer, regulatory, and Spectrum Control requirements. This role provides technical support across Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain, with emphasis on inspection methods, process controls, statistical analysis, auditing, corrective action, and continuous improvement.

Working within a high-reliability electronics manufacturing environment, the Quality Engineer analyzes performance trends, resolves product and process issues, supports supplier quality, and helps maintain the effectiveness of the site’s quality management system.

Compensation Range: The expected compensation for this position is $85,000 - $115,000 annually.

Essential Job Functions:

- Provide technical quality support to Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality personnel regarding product and process inspections, sampling plans, audit requirements, process controls, and statistical applications.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve inspection methods, measurement techniques, sampling plans, and process-monitoring systems.
- Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC), capability analysis, trend analysis, and other quality tools to evaluate process performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Investigate internal, supplier, and customer quality issues; lead or support root-cause analysis and corrective action using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 Whys, and A3.
- Prepare clear and timely corrective and preventive action documentation and verify the effectiveness of implemented actions.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the site’s quality management system.
- Plan and conduct internal quality audits to verify compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards.
- Maintain accurate quality records, procedures, work instructions, inspection documentation, and other quality-system materials.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Purchasing to evaluate supplier capabilities, quality performance, inspection and test methods, and nonconforming material.
- Review and analyze quality metrics and performance trends; communicate findings and recommend actions to improve product quality, process capability, and operational performance.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure key product characteristics, technical requirements, and contractual quality expectations are understood and satisfied.
- Participate in cross-functional continuous-improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving yield, controlling variation, and preventing recurrence.
- Promote proven corrective actions and quality best practices across applicable products, processes, and work areas.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Quality, or a related technical discipline.
- Three to five years of quality engineering or related experience within a manufacturing environment.
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience applying quality engineering tools, structured problem-solving methods, and root-cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of inspection methods, process controls, sampling techniques, auditing, and Statistical Process Control.
- Ability to analyze technical and quality data, identify trends, and communicate findings clearly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based business systems.
- Strong communication, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience in electronics, microelectronics, or another high-reliability manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of electronic component and assembly manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610, ISO 9001, and AS9100 requirements.
- Familiarity with MIL-PRF-38534 or other applicable military and aerospace quality requirements.
- Experience supporting supplier quality, customer corrective actions, and internal or external audits.
- Experience with continuous-improvement tools and cross-functional team facilitation.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification or willingness to pursue certification.

Work Environment:

- Work is performed in a combination of office and electronics manufacturing environment in our Marlborough, MA facility.
- Regular interaction with manufacturing operations, inspection areas, engineering teams, suppliers, and customers may be required.
- Must be able to follow all applicable safety, quality, security, and environmental requirements.
