What you will do

The Sr TechOps Packaging Engineer is responsible for leading development and qualification of tertiary packaging associated with new products and cost improvements, including end-to-end line qualification to meet the requirements for manufacturing in a dynamic and diverse portfolio of products

This individual will be responsible for all required specifications, documentation, line trials, validation and testing to support product release. The individual will be taking a leadership role with primary, secondary and tertiary packaging projects along with improvements and cost reduction of existing packages and packaging tailoring to fit functional and marketing goals in trade customization initiatives.

The person should possess the ability to influence and interface with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and validate innovative packaging solutions and components that enhance product protection, optimize material usage, ensure functionality, and comply with project requirements and sustainability goals.
- Collaborate cross-functional with product development, marketing, manufacturing, and quality teams to create packaging that aligns with brand identity, operational efficiency, and production objectives.
- Lead and participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to streamline packaging processes, reduce waste, implement eco-friendly materials, and resolve packaging-related issues encountered during manufacturing and in the field.
- Lead and execute tertiary packaging development, including trade customization, artwork development, specifications, configuration, palletization and transportation tests, for both internal and external manufacturing
- Develop and maintain technical expertise in packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and testing techniques to adapt to varying requirements.
- Collaborate closely with creative design teams and other stakeholders to deliver packaging solutions that meet research, development, and production timelines while adapting and optimizing methods to address unique project challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing packaging performance metrics and applying creative engineering modifications and comprehensive technical expertise to develop practical and innovative packaging solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers in advanced packaging methodologies, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of  6-years relevant experience in packaging engineering, including design, development or related disciplines.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, trade custom processes, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to generate innovative packaging solutions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional or multidisciplinary teams.

Desired Qualifications

- Proven ability to conceptualize and execute packaging solutions that balance functionality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Demonstrated expertise in materials science and manufacturing processes relevant to packaging engineering.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of leading projects that introduce novel packaging technologies or processes.
