ROLE SUMMARY: The Engineer II plays a key role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and overall condition of Hotel Drover—an Autograph Collection property rooted in Texas hospitality and luxury service. This position supports the daily operation, preventative maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems while delivering warm, polished service aligned with Marriott and Autograph Collection standards. The Engineer II helps ensure that every guest experiences comfort, reliability, and the legendary care that defines our hotel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Respond promptly to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues with minimal supervision.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, tools, HVAC systems, and building components, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments.
- Visually inspect, identify, and troubleshoot issues with tools, equipment, or machinery.
- Carry and operate tools, radios, and equipment essential to the role.
- Identify, locate, and operate all building shut-off valves, emergency disconnects, and utility shut-offs.
- Maintain accurate inventories of parts, tools, and supplies; requisition materials as needed.
- Log and communicate all daily activities, maintenance concerns, and shift notes using department-approved communication programs.
- Replace light bulbs, A/C filters, ceiling tiles, and other consumables.
- Use engineering computer systems for preventative maintenance tasks, energy management, and work orders.
- Maintain polished and refined communication when speaking with guests, leaders, and team members.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries immediately.
- All other duties as assigned.
ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and move for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs independently; heavier items with assistance.
- Work in varied environments including mechanical rooms, rooftops, outdoor areas, hot/cold zones, and confined spaces.
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, reach overhead, and crawl as needed.
- Ability to use ladders, lifts, and step stools safely.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance or engineering experience, preferably in a hotel or luxury residential environment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Flexible schedule — must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully with guests and team members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in hotel engineering within a luxury or lifestyle brand property.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Background in exterior/interior surface repair, painting, or multi-trade work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
