Position Summary:
Reports to the substance use disorder (SUD) counselor. Responsible for a variety of duties including inmate classification program and activities programs. Responsible for providing reentry programming in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide reentry programming to address inmates' criminogenic needs in accordance with contractual requirements.
2. Participates in program planning, development, training, and implementation of substance abuse treatment/education programs; monitors compliance with policies and procedures; and assists in providing consultative services to plan, implement, and monitor effective agency programs.
3. Maintain a well-managed, comprehensive instructional environment.
4. Provide appropriate and effective direct classroom instruction to inmates including preparing, maintaining, and assessing personal education plans (PEPs) for each inmate.
5. Oversees and coordinates scheduling of all prison-based Prisoner Reentry programs.
6. Maintains records, prepares reports, and prepares correspondence.
7. Responsible for developing and providing additional activities for inmate participation to include athletic or crafting projects as required.
8. Coordinates activities with the direction and assistance of facility director in coordination with immediate supervisor.
9. Responsible for the inmate classification program in accordance to contract requirements.
10. Monitors inmate behavior and reports incidents, inappropriate or unusual behaviors to appropriate treatment team staff.
11. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
12. Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 1) a bachelor's degree or, 2) an associate degree and two (2) years of full-time related work experience, or 3) high school diploma/GED and four (4) years of full-time related work experience in instruction or program facilitation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
