Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Structural Design Engineer to join our engineering team, specializing in the design and analysis of large-scale Reinforced Concrete (RC) natural draught cooling towers for power projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and compliance of designs with relevant Indian and international codes and standards. This role requires advanced analytical skills, proficiency in industry-standard software, and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural Analysis and Design: Perform rigorous structural analysis and design of complex RC shell structures, foundations, and internal components of natural draught cooling towers, considering various load combinations including wind, seismic, and thermal loads.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all designs and documentation strictly adhere to relevant Codes of BS 4485, CTI ATC-105, CTI STD-136, IS 456, IS 1893, Other relevant IS, ASTM & NPCIL codes & specifications.
- Software Proficiency: Utilize advanced structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE) for modelling, simulation, and analysis, and use CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit,) for drawing and detailing. Proficiency in FEM analysis is required.
- Design Documentation: Prepare comprehensive design reports, technical specifications, calculations, and detailed engineering drawings for construction. Review of technical submission from Design Consultant.
- Inter-disciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams, as well as architects and construction managers, to integrate design requirements and resolve potential conflicts.
- Approval from Authority: Coordination with Authority Engineer, Design Consultant & Client for approval of Design & Drawings for timely delivery of GFC drawings.
- Quantity Control: Track & review submissions to ensure Quantities are within limit of Tender quantities.
- Quality Assurance & Review: Conduct thorough reviews of internal and vendor drawings, plans, and calculations to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to design specifications.
- Value Engineering: Explore value engineering options to reduce Quantities & construction time.
- Construction Support: Provide technical guidance and prompt resolution to site queries (RFIs) during the construction phase, including occasional site visits to monitor progress and compliance.
- Design Change & Variations: Maintain record & track changes related to design. Support contracts team to raise variation claims related to Design.
