We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Wealth Digital Engineering.

The Role
As Head of Digital Engineering, Wealth you’ll be accountable for the technology strategy, architecture, engineering and delivery across a suite of Wealth Digital products, platforms and services that support customers and colleagues. These platforms underpin Wealth propositions spanning Retail Wealth through to HSBC Private Bank and are central to how we compete in key markets. This role sets technical direction while staying close to delivery - shaping designs, reviewing critical changes and guiding teams through complex build-and-run decisions. You’ll strengthen our shift from project to product and improve the end-to-end delivery pipeline from idea to production. You’ll also champion practical AI adoption across the SDLC to improve throughput, quality and operational effectiveness while balancing innovation with resilience, security and control expectations. Success looks like measurable improvements in delivery flow, reliability and customer experience across globally distributed teams.
Principal responsibilities
- Bring deep Wealth domain knowledge across investment lifecycles and digital propositions from direct-to-consumer to advisory and discretionary offerings
- Demonstrate substantial software engineering leadership experience delivering secure resilient digital platforms end-to-end
- Show a track record building and operating high-availability high-scale high-performance systems including production support and operational resilience
- Evidence delivery of strategic global solutions including legacy platform migrations and platform demise
- Apply strong technical judgement across observability incident response performance engineering capacity management release engineering and dependency management
- Demonstrate AI and automation engineering literacy including taking practical AI-enabled use cases from concept to production with appropriate risk controls
- Embed DevOps DevSecOps SRE and Agile practices in complex global environments with exposure to scaled agile approaches such as SAFe as a plus
- Influence senior stakeholders and communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
- Manage financial stewardship in a fixed-capacity environment including budgeting forecasting and vendor management
