About this role

Company Overview

Alloyed is a young venture-funded company of about 300 world-class metallurgists, engineers, and software developers working across the UK, Japan and the US to build the future of advanced metal components and systems. To do this, Alloyed uses proprietary software packages which combine advanced machine learning and physical modelling to invent better alloys, devise better ways to process them, and design better 3D-printed components and assemblies.

Alloyed is composed of a range of divisions, enabling metal technology from composition to systems:

- Core Technology: Alloyed's internal research and technology hub, focused on creating the new alloys, manufacturing methods, digital tools and intellectual property that will power the company's future products and capabilities.
- Innovation Services: Work directly with customers to develop, optimise and qualify materials and manufacturing processes for demanding aerospace, defence, energy and industrial applications.
- Component Engineering: Design, manufacture and validate production-ready components, turning material and process innovations into high-performance hardware for customer applications.
- Argive: Develop and manufacture complete microturbine engine systems under ambitious timelines and customer expectations, enabled by Alloyed’s software stack, proprietary Alloys and AM processing capabilities.

---

Whether you're a recent graduate or a current university student, we offer exciting opportunities to gain real-world engineering experience at Alloyed.

- Graduate Engineers : Full-time positions for graduates ready to launch their careers on or before September 2027.
- Summer Internships : 8-week placements for students looking to apply their learning in an industry environment starting in July 2027.

Role Overview

As we scale, there are lots of exciting manufacturing challenges to solve to repeatably make high quality parts.

Our manufacturing engineers work across operations, engineering and design teams to solve technical and process challenges, improving throughput, quality, and efficiency across all areas of design and manufacture. You will work with a wide range of teams and people, and each day could look completely different.

We’re looking for people who are comfortable both getting stuck in to solve problems on the shop floor, and taking a step back to make improvement to wider processes. You will need a good basis of technical understanding, a methodical and practical approach to problem-solving, and most importantly, curiosity and enthusiasm.

---

What you’ll work on:

You could be working on projects such as:

- Transforming Alloyed’s own innovative R&D processes into production-ready solutions
- Fast-paced root cause analysis during production runs to understand causes of scrap and implement solutions
- Building tools and technology solutions to tackle challenges on the shop floor
- Analysing shop floor data to identify bottlenecks, variation, and explore solutions

---

Responsibilities

- Optimisation of manufacturing processes through walkthroughs, analysis, and testing with example users

- Collaborating with shop floor and engineering teams on continuous improvements and process changes

- Owning process development for new and existing process improvements, including data analysis of yield, throughput, stability etc.

- Communication with project and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of work

- Documenting, training, and gathering feedback on new processes to shop floor teams

---

Essential skills

- Working towards or holding a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (2:1 minimum)

- Proficient in CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion or similar)

- Excellent problem-solving ability and capability to convert complex data into actions with practical solutions

- Adaptable, organised, and able to prioritise multiple workstreams

- Willingness to get hands on with manufacturing processes

- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams

Desired skills

- Experience with metal additive manufacturing design constraints and approaches

- Knowledge or experience of the aerospace, automotive and electronic industries

- A thesis in a relevant field

- Knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of traditional manufacturing methods

- Experience using CAD packages

---

During your application, you'll be asked whether you'd like to be considered for a Graduate Engineer position or Summer Internship. You cannot apply for both.
