Technical Program Manager III, Fleet Inventory Optimization, Google Cloud

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Central Fleet Technical Program Manager (T/PgM) team is responsible for provisioning fleet compute and storage resources to Google’s resource managers while managing the cost, health and lifecycle of the underlying fleet of machines. Our team leverages Google’s resource abstraction systems to expose and execute on opportunities for inventory and fleet optimization. We partner with the fleet’s stakeholders, giving them a platform to influence fleet composition and design.

The Central Fleet’s mission is to synthesize all stakeholder’s needs and orchestrate changes to the fleet, driving the fleet’s evolution.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

- 5 years of experience in program management.

- Experience working with compute or storage resource management.

- Experience working with compute hardware in an infrastructure environment.

Preferred qualifications:

- MBA or technical degree.

- 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

- Experience with scripting or business tool development using SQL or Python.

- Familiarity with Google software services or overall general understanding of compute/storage resource management.

- Excellent verbal/written communication and analytical skills.

- Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.

- Manage a portfolio of projects related to fleet efficiency, resource stranding, reverse supply chain, and other fleet priorities.

- Translate new supply chain capabilities into cost reduction initiatives or user facing feature improvements.

- Support operations and analytic projects related to the allocation and budgeting of internal computing resources.

- Play a key role in the advancement of strategy, policy, and supporting tools for operations; provide scripting/tool development as necessary.

- Work with partner teams to manage, launch and deliver projects related to process re-design around demand and supply-side compute resource management. Work with software engineering partners to manage product roadmaps and priorities.
