Job Title: General Ledger Accountant

Your Role
We’re in business to save our home planet. The General Ledger Accountant ensures accurate and timely financial reporting by managing complex accounting tasks and reconciliation processes such as fixed assets and intercompany transactions. This role also acts as a subject matter expert (SME) within these domains, supporting internal and cross-functional projects, including systems automation and financial process improvements. This position contributes to the financial integrity of Patagonia's EMEA entities through expert handling of month-end closings, accounting controls, and compliance with local statutory and tax regulations.
Your Main Tasks
• Manage Accounting Activities : Responsible for accounting activities including but not limited to Fixed Asset accounting and Intercompany recharges by ensuring accurate and timely record keeping, template preparation and maintaining general ledger entries.
• Balance sheet review: preparing monthly Balance Sheet review files and Month-end checklists and performing balance sheet reviews on assigned accounts to ensure that these balances are justified and complete in accordance with accounting policies and tax regulations. Highlight and raise identified discrepancies/risks that need further investigation and corrective action.
• Month-End Close Activities : Review accounting records and execute complex month end-closing journal entries such as lease accounting and corporate income tax provisions. Coordinating with internal stakeholders to meet reporting deadlines and maintain data integrity.
• Project support : Drive initiatives that enhance internal controls such as defining new accounting policies. Optimize and standardize accounting processes and tools (such as BNA fixed asset software) in collaboration with IT and Finance.
• (Internal) Audit Support & stakeholder management : Contribute to an effective control environment (e.g. month end close checklist) and assist with interim and year-end audits. Support requests from US finance team on recurring accounting matters such as insurance and lease overviews.
What we’re looking for
• An inclusive mindset
• 3-5 years of relevant experience, educational background in accounting or similar areas will be a plus
• Good understanding of EMEA internal accounting principles and journal entry processes. Adhere to internal controls and procedures.
• Working knowledge within accounting areas, such as fixed asset accounting, accrual accounting and intercompany postings to ensure accurate financial treatment and reporting.
• Strong proficiency in financial, reporting and ERP systems including automated reconciliation software such as Blackline or similar, Power BI and Excel macros, with the capability to support automation, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex accounting issues independently and identify opportunities for process optimization and automation.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail, consistently applied across financial documentation and data handling to support compliance, audit readiness, and data integrity.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
