We’re looking for a Deputy Shift Lead to join the team at Manthorpe Building Products and play a key role in supporting the successful running of our production shop floor.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is ready to take on greater responsibility, develop their leadership skills and make a real difference to the performance of the team.

Working alongside the Shift Lead, you’ll help provide direction to colleagues, coordinate day-to-day production activities and ensure we deliver the right products, to the right quality, safely and on time.

What you'll be doing

As our Deputy Shift Lead, you’ll help keep our production operation running safely, efficiently and effectively. Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting and guiding team members in line with company policies and procedures.
- Deputising for the Shift Lead and taking responsibility for the shift when required.
- Providing clear day-to-day direction to the production team.
- Coordinating labour and resources to support production requirements.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the shop floor.
- Monitoring production performance and ensuring output is achieved on time and in full.
- Monitoring product quality and ensuring required standards are consistently maintained.
- Ensuring materials are available to maintain production output.
- Communicating production issues and priorities to the wider management team.
- Working collaboratively with other departments to maintain high standards of health and safety.
- Acting as a positive role model and demonstrating the behaviours we expect from everyone at Genuit.
- Ensuring waste is correctly segregated and disposed of in line with environmental requirements.
- Carrying out manual handling activities safely and effectively.
- Supporting the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities.
- Helping to reduce waste and improve safety, efficiency and employee engagement.
- Ensuring all company and statutory Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements are followed.

What you'll bring

We’re looking for someone who is positive, proactive and ready to take ownership.

You may already have experience in a production or manufacturing leadership role, or you may be an experienced production team member who is ready to take the next step. Most importantly, you’ll have the attitude, communication skills and willingness to learn needed to succeed.

You’ll ideally have:

- Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.
- A positive work ethic and enthusiastic approach.
- Good communication and people skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use your own initiative.
- A willingness to learn new skills and develop your knowledge.
- The ability to carry out visual and dimensional quality checks.
- Experience or knowledge of the safe use of overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
- Fire Marshal and First Aid training.
- An understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
- IOSH qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
- A genuine interest in continuous improvement and sustainable working practices.
