Job Description

We are constantly growing and are currently looking for a reliable and highly motivated Chief Estimator to join our top-qualified and knowledgeable team at our Cairo Office, Egypt .

What you will need to do:

- Review electrical drawings, UFGS/UFC specifications, RFPs, and tender documents to define the complete electrical scope and identify missing or unclear requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs for power distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators & ATS, UPS, grounding & lightning protection, lighting & controls, fire alarm, low-voltage, and security systems.
- Prepare complete electrical cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, freight, logistics, and other associated costs.
- Develop realistic labor productivity and installation cost assumptions according to project location and requirements.
- Prepare and issue RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors and perform technical and commercial evaluation and normalization of received quotations.
- Identify scope gaps, design discrepancies, constructability concerns, and commercial risks and communicate them to the Line Manager and tendering team.
- Prepare tender clarifications, assumptions, exclusions, and RFIs.
- Support value engineering and alternative pricing to optimize project cost and technical solutions.
- Prepare estimates for change orders and Requests for Equitable Adjustment (REA) on awarded projects.
- Maintain and update cost data using lessons learned from awarded and completed projects.
- Manage multiple tenders simultaneously while ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict bid deadlines.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior estimators and quantity surveyors within the electrical team.
- Coordinate closely with MEP, Procurement, Engineering, and Project teams throughout the tendering process.

What you will need to have:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Electrical Estimation/Tendering within medium to large-scale construction projects.
- Proven experience in preparing complete electrical estimates directly from drawings and specifications, rather than solely pricing existing BOQs.
- Strong knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70) and applicable international electrical codes and standards.
- Good practical understanding of electrical installation methods and site execution.
- Strong knowledge of electrical equipment costs, labor productivity, subcontracting, and procurement lead times.
- Experience with quantity take-off tools such as Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with estimating software and the ability to review AutoCAD and Revit drawings.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

It would be nice if you also have:

- Previous experience in estimating US Government projects, including DoD, OBO, USACE, NAVFAC, or similar projects.
- Hands-on experience with UFGS and UFC requirements.
- Experience with international projects involving imported equipment, international shipping, logistics, and customs.
- Previous experience with an Electrical Contractor or MEP Subcontractor, preferably combined with site exposure.
- Professional certification or membership such as AACE or RICS.
