Role Overview:
As Payroll Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the payroll strategy for Allianz Services Mauritius. You will lead payroll restructuring initiatives with external consultants to enhance efficiency, standardise processes, and strengthen controls across payroll system (Dayforce), leveraging advanced AI, Microsoft Excel capabilities and robust audit and internal controls frameworks. Your expertise in payroll administration - including monthly payroll review, attendance, overtime, leave, allowances and deductions, statutory reporting, and payroll journals, accruals and variance analysis - will ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery for 1,100 employees in a highly complex environment, making a direct impact on employee trust, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. You will champion confidentiality and data integrity across every aspect of the payroll function.
What You Do:
- Coordinate monthly payroll delivery across all departments, working with Dayforce, People Operations, and Finance stakeholders to meet payroll and statutory cut-offs, ensuring seamless vendor and stakeholder management throughout the cycle
- Review payroll inputs and outputs covering joiners, leavers, attendance, overtime, leave, allowances, bonuses, deductions and statutory items; investigate variances before approval
- Coordinate salary payment instructions, salary payment files, payroll funding inputs and bank approval controls, in collaboration with Finance
- Perform payroll-to-bank and payroll-related account reconciliations, including payroll journals, accruals and variance analysis, maintaining clear evidence and follow-up of exceptions
- Resolve payroll, vendor and payment discrepancies and manage employee query resolution, while communicating risks, dependencies and required actions to stakeholders
- Maintain payroll calendars, standard operating procedures, control checklists and audit and internal controls documentation for multi-country operations, including statutory reporting and final settlements and benefits processes
- Allocate and review work across payroll support resources and act as an escalation point for urgent, high-risk payroll matters
What You Bring:
- 15+ years of experience spanning end-to-end payroll, payroll finance controls and People administration
- Proven track record in coordinating complex payroll activity, vendors, banking controls and reconciliations in a large and global entity
- Experienced in high-volume monthly cycles, statutory compliance, payroll accounting, audits, employee support and process governance
- Prior experience in a payroll operations leadership role within a global shared services or outsourcing environment is highly desirable
