MEP Senior Cost Consultant - Defence

Ready to take the next step in your cost consultancy career? At Mace, we're looking for a talented senior cost consultant with MEP expertise to join our high-performing Defence team. You'll play a key role in delivering expert cost management solutions, influencing project success, and helping clients make informed investment decisions across a diverse portfolio of projects.

This is an opportunity to work closely with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary consultant teams, supporting projects from feasibility and procurement through to final account agreement.

You’ll be responsible for:

- Conducting feasibility studies, advising on procurement strategies and contract selection, and preparing procurement reports.
- Applying value management techniques from the outset of a project.
- Managing estimating and cost-planning activities, including taking ownership of and presenting final cost plans.
- Negotiating and agreeing final accounts.
- Acting as a key interface with clients, stakeholders and other consultants throughout all project stages.
- Managing contractual frameworks and standard forms of contract.
- Identifying opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, products and services provided to clients.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to internal systems and processes.
- Providing commercial and cost advice throughout the project lifecycle.

You’ll need to have :

- Degree qualified in quantity surveying, cost management, engineering or an equivalent discipline.
- Professional membership such as MRICS/RICS (preferred).
- Previous experience within a cost consultancy practice in a similar role (preferred but not essential).
- Strong knowledge of MEP and sustainable technologies, with experience working across multiple sectors.
- Experience with JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Cost planning, budgeting and estimating experience.
- Sound knowledge of contract administration, with the ability to undertake and advise on related activities.
- Knowledge of value engineering and life-cycle costing.
- Understanding of key industry topics, including sustainability, social value and carbon reduction, particularly within the public sector.
- Experience providing CapEx versus OpEx cost analysis and advice.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
