Job Description

You can make your mark by ensuring compliance with the company’s Integrated Management System (SLIMS), SHEQ standards, and applicable legislation at the assigned contract or regional level. In this role, you will help strengthen the safety culture, support continuous improvement, and contribute to safe, efficient, and compliant maritime operations.

Your responsibilities as a SHEQ Officer:

- Ensure implementation and compliance with the company’s Integrated Management System (SLIMS) across the assigned contract, including internal audits based on ISM, ISPS, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Register audit findings and support the execution, follow-up, and closure of corrective and preventive actions to strengthen compliance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct SLIMS familiarization, shore-based training, onboard vessel training, and monitor crew training programs and E-learning compliance.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of work instructions, procedures, process flows, and standard operating procedures, while identifying opportunities to enhance SHEQ performance.
- Promote safe working practices and a proactive safety culture through SHEQ campaigns, toolbox meetings, safety meetings, safety alerts, and regular communication with vessel crews, contract management, and other stakeholders.
- Provide monthly input for SHEQ statistics and support reporting requirements in line with company standards.
- Support emergency preparedness by conducting shipboard drills, debriefings, and related follow-up actions, while liaising with class societies and clients on SHEQ matters when required.

Your qualities 
You can make your mark as a SHEQ Officer if you have:

- Higher professional education
- Minimum 2 years of relevant SHEQ experience, with maritime industry experience considered an advantage.
- Good knowledge of applicable international maritime and management system standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISM, ISPS, MLC, , together with a strong understanding of management systems implementation, auditing, incident investigation, and corrective action follow-up.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to engage effectively with vessel crews, managers, clients, and external parties, while working independently and in close alignment with contract and regional management.
- A proactive attitude towards continuous improvement, training, and the promotion of safety awareness and compliance.
