Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated R&D software engineering leader to join our growing Interventional Cardiology R&D organization. In this role, you will lead a team in the design and development of medical device software for innovative products that sustain and improve the lives of patients around the world.

As a Senior Software Engineer - Lead , you will combine technical expertise, leadership and collaboration skills with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement to guide software development activities, support engineering talent and help drive product development forward.

Work model and sponsorship:

Your responsibilities will include:

- Lead a team in the design, implementation, documentation, testing and support of medical device software.

- Communicate project status, progress and risks to internal stakeholders on a regular basis.

- Assign work and track development progress using Agile methodologies.

- Ensure software development activities are documented in accordance with approved procedures and standards.

- Analyze, evaluate and verify software and system requirements using software engineering best practices.

- Drive continuous improvement of processes, workflows and development methodologies through collaboration with peers and cross-functional teams.

- Support team members and project activities to help achieve project goals and timelines.

- Mentor junior engineers in software and hardware engineering activities, methodologies and domain knowledge.

- Participate in reviews of software design and development activities.

Required qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related field with a minimum of 6 years' relevant work experience; master's degree with a minimum of 4 years' relevant work experience; or doctoral degree with a minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience.

- Background in software development within the medical device industry.

- Proficiency in developing Windows-based software using Microsoft development tools.

- Strong programming skills in C# and C++.

- Demonstrated ability to document software deliverables in compliance with IEC 62304 and relevant FDA guidance.

- Proven ability to lead software development teams using Agile methodologies.

- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred qualifications:

- Familiarity with the Atlassian toolchain or similar software development and collaboration tools.

- Knowledge of Windows debugging and memory management tools.

- Understanding of software code optimization techniques.

- Background in developing software with enhanced security considerations.

- Software development involving interfaces with custom hardware.

- Knowledge of automation frameworks for software build and test activities.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
