Play an integral role in ensuring the successful delivery of industrial construction projects by providing advanced inspection expertise, quality oversight, and technical leadership across coating, corrosion protection, welding, fabrication, and construction activities. As a Senior Inspector – NACE Level II & CWI , you will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for verifying that materials, workmanship, fabrication processes, protective coating systems, and welding activities comply with project specifications, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

This is a field-based role located on an active industrial construction site. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time in the field working directly with construction teams, quality personnel, contractors, fabricators, engineering teams, and customer representatives. Success in this position requires a strong site presence, exceptional technical knowledge, and the ability to independently evaluate complex quality and compliance issues while supporting safe and efficient project execution.

As a recognized technical specialist, you will provide consultation to construction management, engineering teams, quality organizations, and project leadership while helping ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest standards of quality.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Inspector – NACE Level II & CWI is responsible for performing advanced inspection, quality verification, and compliance activities related to coatings, corrosion protection systems, welding, fabrication, and construction operations. You will conduct detailed field inspections, evaluate workmanship, verify compliance with approved procedures and specifications, and provide technical guidance regarding quality issues and corrective actions.

Working independently under general supervision, you will support project quality objectives by identifying deficiencies, documenting findings, participating in audits and assessments, and ensuring construction activities are performed in accordance with project requirements, customer expectations, and applicable industry standards.

Your expertise will directly contribute to reducing rework, improving quality performance, enhancing asset reliability, and supporting successful project delivery.

You will be responsible for

- Performing detailed inspections of welding, fabrication, coating, corrosion protection, and construction activities to verify compliance with project requirements.
- Conducting coating inspections in accordance with NACE, AMPP, SSPC, project specifications, and customer requirements.
- Performing welding inspections in accordance with approved procedures, codes, standards, and quality requirements.
- Verifying compliance with approved welding procedures, welder qualifications, inspection and test plans, and project specifications.
- Monitoring surface preparation, environmental conditions, coating application, and coating system performance.
- Reviewing and validating inspection records, test reports, material documentation, and quality records.
- Identifying non-conformances, deficiencies, and quality concerns and supporting implementation of corrective actions.
- Participating in construction audits, quality assessments, surveillance activities, and project inspections.
- Supporting contractor and fabrication shop oversight activities when required.
- Conducting field walkdowns and inspections of completed work prior to turnover and commissioning activities.
- Monitoring contractor compliance with quality procedures, specifications, and approved work practices.
- Maintaining accurate inspection documentation, reports, punch lists, quality records, and compliance reports.
- Providing technical guidance and recommendations related to welding, coating systems, corrosion protection, and quality compliance.
- Supporting root cause investigations and quality improvement initiatives.
- Participating in customer inspections, regulatory reviews, and project quality meetings.
- Coordinating with engineering, construction, quality control, commissioning, and project management teams to resolve technical issues.
- Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen field quality performance and project execution.

What you’ll bring to the role

You bring extensive inspection expertise, advanced technical knowledge, and a strong commitment to quality gained through supporting industrial construction, fabrication, and EPC project environments.

- Technical school diploma or an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and relevant industry experience.
- Typically 7+ years of inspection, quality control, fabrication, welding inspection, coating inspection, or construction quality experience.
- Current NACE Level II Coating Inspector Certification (AMPP Coating Inspector Program Level 2 certification accepted where applicable).
- Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification issued by the American Welding Society (AWS).
- Demonstrated experience supporting industrial, energy, chemicals, LNG, petrochemical, manufacturing, refining, infrastructure, or major EPC construction projects.
- Extensive knowledge of protective coatings, corrosion protection systems, surface preparation methods, and coating application practices.
- Strong understanding of welding processes, fabrication methods, inspection techniques, and welding quality requirements.
- Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and specifications including AWS, ASME, SSPC, NACE/AMPP, API, and project-specific standards.
- Experience reviewing inspection and test plans, welding procedures, coating specifications, and quality documentation.
- Ability to independently evaluate technical issues, identify deficiencies, and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Experience conducting audits, surveillance activities, quality assessments, and compliance reviews.
- Strong report-writing and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical findings clearly to contractors, engineers, quality teams, and project leadership.
- Experience mentoring inspectors, supporting quality teams, and providing technical guidance on complex quality matters.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Advanced understanding of quality systems, inspection tools, reporting platforms, and project quality processes.
