Job Highlights

- Have primary responsibility for PSM compliance elements of Training, Contractor Safety, Critical Work Permits, Employee Participation, and Emergency Planning and Response in 24/7 operation plant.
- Have support responsibility for PSM compliance elements of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), Incident Investigation, Compliance Audits, and Pre-startup Safety Review.
- Performs analysis of results to trend data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Responsible for incident trend analysis and sharing/leveraging learning is for the facility.
- Influences Operations, Maintenance and other facility leadership to drive HSSE performance.
- In conjunction with Environmental  Manager, responsible for company interface with regulatory authorities for regulatory visits, requests and submissions for their area, with support from Area Managers, as needed.
- Lead internal/external audits from internal/external customers, regulatory agencies, and recertification firms and actively support site leadership.
- Monitors new and proposed changes to all HSSE regulations pertaining to their site and reviews recommendations for incorporation into HSSE management systems and standards in a timely manner. Understands impacts and implications of such changes to facility, materials, technology and potential emissions, and supports improvements.
- Leads and contributes to incident investigations. Reviews and shares learnings with HSSE organization.
- Responsible for supporting Plant Manager to maintain regulatory compliance including emission monitoring, waste management, report preparation and submission, and for all licenses and permits. (DPCC, SPCC, SPPP, Title V, MCUA)
- Leads the design and maintenance of Emergency Response Program and Plan for the facility in conjunction with line management.
- In conjunction with the Plant Manager, ensure a secure work environment and that the site security system meets all regulatory and LANXESS requirements including managing external security personnel.
- Accountable for managing site HSSE documentation to include program design, HSSE data collection and posting, training documentation and HSSE KPI reports locally, and into corporate EHS system. Responsible for the management of pursuing Responsible Care certification and prioritization of areas for improvement.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience / Skills

- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and/or Safety Management.
- Ability to build successful relationships with regulators, with supervisor/management experience.
- 5 to 10 years of HSSE work experience in the chemical industry is required.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and Responsible Care (RC 14001) preferred.
- Candidates should be knowledgeable of occupational safety, environmental, security and waste handling requirements. Knowledge of NJ laws and regulations are strongly desired.
- Ability to identify and deliver HSSE Programs within facility and in support of corporate initiatives.
- Experienced Auditor – leading to delivery and assigning resources and responsibilities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to act as a coach, trainer, and advisor at all level.
- Excellent computer skills especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Compensation We offer competitive compensation packages, inclusive of a global bonus program. The established pay range for the grade of this position is $94,700 to $157,800. Please note, the actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
