Summary

The Business Segment Communications, Associate Director should be highly skilled at developing and executing strategic communication plans, and be able to manage internal and external communication programs and initiatives that educate and engage colleagues and external stakeholders, including media, partners and communities. The ability to write exceptionally well for various audiences is imperative. The candidate also will be expected to have an extensive knowledge of effective internal communication and public relations, as well as experience in managing relationships with executive leaders throughout Huntington. This person must exercise excellent judgment, work independently and collaboratively, and respond quickly to opportunities that arise. The candidate must be resourceful, creative, and intellectually curious.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop and execute strategic communication plans and manage communication programs and initiatives that educate, motivate, and engage colleagues and external stakeholders, including media, clients, partners and communities.
- Must possess superior writing, editing, speech writing and/or presentation development, project management and problem-solving skills. Must be able to understand complex concepts and translate them for a wide variety of internal and external audiences.
- Must understand Huntington’s priorities, key business issues, and industry trends and apply that understanding in communicating with audiences.
- Collaborate across Corporate Communications, Marketing and other teams to generate compelling content that regularly engages 20,000 colleagues and external stakeholders with Huntington news, information and inspiring stories.
- Deliver strategic counsel to business segment leaders, providing guidance on effective messaging, communication methods and communication measurement.
- Develop communication briefs, executive summaries, newsletters, talking points, presentations, and frequently asked questions.
- Draft, manage, and distribute internal and external communications, including news, organizational announcements, corporate developments and crisis management through a variety of internal and external media.
- Collaborate with internal content creators to develop, obtain approval and publish content on the corporate intranet.
- Provide candid feedback with confidence and dialogue about issues to determine best approach to communicate effectively.
- Leverage external communication content to tell a consistent and holistic story about Huntington’s brand, business priorities and initiatives.
- Develop and execute content strategies for LinkedIn and other social media platforms, creating and publishing compelling content that enhances Huntington’s brand, engages target audiences and supports business priorities and initiatives.
- Prioritize a wide range of tasks and manage them with efficiency and tact, quickly size up the implications of projects and initiatives and relevant communications actions.
- Coordinate periodic risk management activities, including internal audits and risk assessments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

- 10+ years of corporate communications experience
- Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations or journalism

Preferred Qualifications:

- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership and executive presence
