Choose the best place for your work – Within the scope of this position, it is possible, in consultation with your manager, to work mobile (within Germany) up to an average volume of 60% of the respective working hours.

Even more flexibility? Mobile working from abroad is possible for up to 30 days a year under certain conditions and in selected countries.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

- You develop and maintain reference implementations, core application building blocks, and tools within the Open Reconstruction application framework, ensuring that MRI researchers can efficiently create and evaluate their own reconstruction applications.
- You apply your expertise in MRI physics, image reconstruction, and clinical research workflows to drive the continuous improvement of the Open Recon framework in terms of usability, flexibility, and completeness.
- You collaborate closely with research partners and application developers to identify the needs of the MRI research community and turn them into practical framework features, APIs, tools, and workflows.
- By developing representative end-to-end use cases and analyzing new application scenarios, you validate the frameworks capabilities, identify gaps, and provide actionable feedback that drives the evolution of the framework.
- As part of an agile team, you take ownership of application-level development activities including design, implementation, testing, evaluation, documentation, and knowledge sharing to ensure a productive and seamless developer experience.

Your qualifications and experience:

- You hold a Master's degree in medical engineering, physics, computer science, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- You possess several years of professional experience in MRI physics, image reconstruction techniques, and clinical research workflows, enabling you to understand complex research applications and follow discussions on the underlying algorithms.
- Alternatively, you hold a PhD in one of these fields.
- You possess solid expertise in developing MRI reconstruction applications for clinical and research use cases in C++ and/or Python. Furthermore, you are able to translate these experiences into high-quality application-level software components, tools, and reference implementations.
- You have extensive experience working in multidisciplinary clinical and research environments, collaborating closely with radiologists, physicists, researchers, and application specialists, giving you a deep understanding of MRI research workflows, clinical processes, and the practical challenges of translating innovative ideas into daily practice.
- Ideally, you have experience with existing MRI research frameworks and image processing pipelines.
- Knowledge of machine learning for medical imaging or software development for regulated medical devices and healthcare applications is considered an additional advantage.
