About this role
Shape the brand narrative for two of the UK’s most ambitious destinations.
The Opportunity
MediaCity and Mayfield, in Greater Manchester, are redefining what great places can be.
Together, they represent one of the UK’s most exciting growth stories: a globally recognised creative, media and technology hub in MediaCity, and one of the country’s most significant regeneration projects in Mayfield.
Backed by Landsec’s long-term investment and ambition, we are creating destinations where talent, business, culture and community thrive. From world-class studios and creative workspaces to major events, commercial partnerships and transformational development opportunities, we are building places that drive economic growth and create lasting impact.
We are seeking an exceptional Director of Marketing and Communications to lead the strategic positioning and brand narrative for both MediaCity and Mayfield, ensuring that our story resonates with diverse audiences and supports our ambitious growth objectives.
Why This Role is Different
This is not a traditional marketing and communications leadership role.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will shape and deliver the brand vision and narrative for MediaCity and Mayfield, driving awareness and engagement across a unique ecosystem of real estate, production facilities, creative services, partnerships, events, destination experiences and community initiatives.
You will have the opportunity to influence two nationally significant growth platforms:
- MediaCity – one of Europe’s leading creative, media and technology campuses, home to studios, post-production, music recording, creative services and a thriving business community.
- Mayfield – one of the UK’s most ambitious regeneration projects, creating a new mixed-use neighbourhood that combines culture, commerce, leisure, community and green space at the heart of Manchester.
This is a rare opportunity to build, influence and scale a brand platform of global significance.
What You'll Deliver

- Lead the planning and execution of impactful marketing campaigns across digital, traditional, and experiential channels, including those specifically designed to promote opportunities within emerging creative sectors (e.g., television, film, audio, digital content).
- Attract businesses, residents, visitors, and talent to both destinations, and drive engagement with new offerings in creative sectors, through targeted campaigns.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure campaigns support specific commercial and community objectives.
Shape Content & Storytelling
- Champion compelling content creation that showcases the unique, globally significant offerings, successes, and community spirit of MediaCity and Mayfield, ensuring it resonates effectively with diverse target audiences.

Build Strategic Partnerships
- Cultivate and maintain influential relationships with a diverse range of key stakeholders, including media, creative industries, technology, investment, public sector, culture, tenants, and the wider community.
- Act as a senior ambassador for MediaCity, Mayfield, and Landsec in the North, representing the destinations at industry events and forums.
Enhance Communications & PR
- Oversee all external and internal communications, including media relations and public relations.
- Manage stakeholder engagement and crisis communications to protect and enhance reputation.
What We're Looking For
We're less interested in where you've worked and more interested in what you've built.
You may come from media, production, creative industries, regeneration, real estate, hospitality, technology or another commercially complex sector.
What matters is your ability to:
- Create and execute ambitious brand and communication strategies.

- Build and maintain influential relationships with media and senior stakeholders to drive change.
- Translate complex visions into compelling narratives.
- Identify opportunities others don't see.

Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to help shape two destinations that are transforming the North West and influencing the future of creativity, innovation and city-making.
You'll join a leadership team with the ambition, backing and freedom to think differently, move quickly and create lasting impact.
If you're excited by bold growth ambitions, complex challenges and the opportunity to leave a legacy, we'd love to hear from you.
