Overall Requirements:
Our Operations Department is looking for a Repair Lab Operations Lead to oversee and coordinate the daily activities, workflows, and processes within the repair lab. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production flow, maintaining quality standards, supporting inventory and material control, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet operational objectives.
The Repair Lab Operations Lead serves as the primary operational resource for repair lab activities, working closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to identify process improvements, resolve operational challenges, and support business goals. This position is focused on the management of repair lab operations, work processes, and production outcomes rather than personnel management.
This role does not include responsibility for hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, compensation decisions, attendance management, employee relations, or other Human Resources functions. These responsibilities remain with the Operations Manager and/or Human Resources.
Responsibilities:
Repair Lab Operations
- Coordinate and monitor daily repair lab activities to ensure operational targets are achieved.
- Manage workflow through the repair process to maximize throughput and minimize bottlenecks.
- Prioritize repair queues based on customer requirements, production schedules, and business needs.
- Ensure repair work is performed in accordance with established procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Monitor work-in-process (WIP) levels and implement actions to maintain efficient production flow.
- Support operational readiness by ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are available and functioning properly.
Process Management & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve repair processes, cycle times, quality performance, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement standardized work practices and process controls.
- Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities related to repair failures, rework, and quality concerns.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to implement process changes and technical improvements.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to customer, company, and regulatory quality requirements.
- Monitor repair quality metrics and drive corrective actions when standards are not met.
- Support audits and documentation reviews as required.
- Maintain accurate records related to repair activities, process changes, and operational reporting.
- Promote compliance with safety requirements and established operating procedures.
Inventory & Material Control
- Monitor repair component usage and material availability.
- Coordinate with supply chain and inventory teams to address material shortages or inventory discrepancies.
- Assist in managing repair parts, consumables, and lab assets to support uninterrupted operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the primary operational contact for repair lab activities.
- Coordinate with production, quality, engineering, planning, and operations leadership to resolve operational issues.
- Provide technical guidance and process expertise regarding repair lab operations.
- Support new product introductions, customer programs, and operational initiatives impacting repair activities.
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- 3-5+ years of experience in repair, manufacturing, electronics, or technical operations.
- Experience leading operational workflows in a production or repair environment.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives and operational performance metrics.
Additional Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of repair operations and production processes.
- Ability to analyze data and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Knowledge of quality systems, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with ERP, MES, or production tracking systems.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
