Job Title: Product Manager

Overview:
Camco Manufacturing is building a dedicated upstream product management function within Engineering & Product Development. The Product Manager owns the intelligence, definition, and commercial positioning work that must precede engineering engagement — translating market opportunity, consumer insight, and business strategy into clear, actionable product briefs that enable the engineering team to execute with precision and speed.

This is a builder role in a function that is newly defined at Camco. The right person understands that product management is not portfolio administration — it is the upstream work that determines whether the engineering team is building the right things before they start building them. You will work within a structured NPD process operating on 12, 18, and 24-month development horizons, and your discovery and definition work will be the trigger that opens each project cycle.

Key Responsibilities

Upstream Product Definition — Primary Responsibility

This is the core of the role. Every active NPD project should begin with PM-completed discovery work. Without it, engineering executes against incomplete direction.

- Define the product thesis for each assigned project: what the product is, who it is for, what problem it solves, and what it must deliver to succeed commercially

- Complete competitive landscape analysis and feature benchmarking before engineering engagement begins — understand what exists, where the gaps are, and how Camco's product must differentiate

- Validate consumer demand through voice-of-customer research, e-commerce review analysis, dealer and consumer engagement, and category trend data

- Develop cost and pricing models that establish commercial viability and define the cost envelope for engineering

- Produce clear, complete product briefs that give engineering the direction needed to initiate design without ambiguity

- Validate commercial product offering opportunities and build implementation strategies

Pipeline Management & Prioritization

- Own the product pipeline across assigned categories — managing projects in the 12, 18, and 24-month development horizons

- Ensure each pipeline project has PM discovery work completed before engineering resources are committed

- Participate in pipeline planning and prioritization discussions with leadership to align discovery work with engineering capacity

- Track stage-gate progression across the portfolio and surface blockers or off-sequence activities to leadership

Cross-Functional Engagement

- Serve as the bridge between market intelligence and engineering execution — representing the commercial perspective throughout the development cycle

- Collaborate with Engineering, Product Implementation, and Quality to ensure product requirements are technically feasible and commercially sound

- Engage Sales and Marketing early and consistently — PM is accountable for ensuring the GTM plan reflects the product's designed value proposition

- Maintain active relationships with key retail partners, dealers, and OEM customers to stay connected to channel requirements and commercial dynamics

Go-to-Market & Commercialization

- Understand go-to-market strategy for each assigned product: pricing, channel strategy, retail positioning, and launch sequencing

- Create and maintain product documentation, competitive sell sheets, and sales enablement tools — PM is the authority on technical, commercial, and competitive differentiation for assigned products

- Support trade show preparation, product training, and dealer engagement activities

- Own post-launch review: analyze sell-through data, consumer feedback, warranty trends, and competitive response — and translate learnings into the next development cycle

Market Intelligence & Category Ownership

- Maintain ongoing awareness of the RV industry: consumer trends, emerging technologies, OEM and dealer dynamics, regulatory changes, and competitive activity

- Monitor e-commerce performance data, consumer reviews, and product ratings to identify product improvement opportunities and new category entries

- Develop business cases for new product lines with market sizing, revenue projections, and ROI analysis — supported by data, not instinct

- Track and report on portfolio performance: sales, margin, category trends, and competitive positioning

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of product management experience in physical consumer products; RV, automotive, marine, or adjacent aftermarket industries strongly preferred

- Demonstrated experience completing upstream product definition work — product briefs, competitive analysis, consumer research — before engineering engagement

- Proven track record of bringing physical products from concept through commercial launch — including stage-gate or similar structured development processes

- Experience setting cost targets and pricing strategy in collaboration with engineering and commercial teams

- Strong analytical skills: comfortable with market sizing, financial modeling, sell-through analysis, and consumer data

- Excellent written and verbal communication — able to translate complex market intelligence into clear product direction for an engineering audience

- Demonstrated experience managing product lines – PLM, gap analysis, competitive opportunities

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or related field preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a wide range of career opportunities with excellent benefits. Above all, we are looking for passionate, talented, hard-working, nice people with great taste to help us build this brand we love.

- Competitive salary

- 401k with company match

- Participation in company health (medical, dental) insurance plans. Supplemental insurance offered

- Promote work/life balance including paid time off and paid holidays
