About this role

Job Summary and General Purpose of Position:

The Automotive Workshop Technician will support the customer’s workshop and support the technical team by performing basic, as well as some top-end mechanical and safety inspections, diagnosis and repair vehicle systems, and various duties in the workshop. This person will investigate mechanical/electrical operational difficulties on products and/or components and recommend corrective action. In addition, this individual will help maintain the workshop including parts and supplies organization and safety with a focus on snow and ice removal from the shop and parking areas.

Essential Job Functions:

- Diagnosis and repair of all vehicle electrical and mechanical systems

- Ability to follow highly detailed and technical procedures

- Print, obtain and interpret diagnostic read outs utilizing development software and tools

- Must be physically able to perform heavy work such as tire changes, suspension parts swaps, assist trained personnel with EV component changes, etc.

- Flexibility and willingness to perform numerous tasks as requested

- Must possess a thorough knowledge of complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts with the ability to read and comprehend complex engineering drawings

- Perform specialized mechanical and/or electrical tests on product components or series of components with little or no supervision

- Ability to read and complete accurate work orders

- Maintain records on work performed, analyze collected data, and report results

- Maintain organized workspace, safety practices, and supplies

- Snowplow work areas and perform ice removal where and when needed

- Act as a trainer/mentor to other employees when assigned

- Some travel may be required to support various test programs

- Assist customer engineers with special tasks

- Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Job Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.  Diploma from an automotive trade school or college preferred. Current ASE or other Certifications in various disciplines including EV training, preferred.

Skills/Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years mechanical experience with knowledge of EV products and repair procedures, preferred. Good computer skills and experience using diagnostic software tools and Data Loggers or similar. Familiarity with English/Metric conversions. Must posses a thorough knowledge of complex mechanical and/or electrical concepts. Experience with operating a snowplow, and other snow and ice removal equipment. Must have a local Driver’s license with clean DMV report.

Job Requirements (Continued):

Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings. Good verbal and written communication and organizational skills are a priority. Familiarity using Slack and Teams preferred. Must possess interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others.

Skills/Experience: Flexibility to perform numerous tasks as required. Ability to apply logical thinking and decision making based on established guidelines and procedures.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds. Job requires standing and bending for approximately 6-8 hours on a daily basis. Must be able to travel as required to support customer testing needs. Must be available to work a minimum of 50 hours weekly and remain flexible and available to work overtime and odd hours, including weekends, and holidays. Must be willing to work on other shifts, as required. Ability to pass a drug screen and physical required.
