Mechanical Product Validation Engineering Technician III

Inside the Role
Develops, assembles, and supports prototype vehicle builds and validation activities from initial frame rail assembly through complete vehicle integration. Installs and configures mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems including brackets, wiring harnesses, cabling, and other vehicle components in accordance with engineering specifications. Partners with engineers and technicians to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve build, functional, and test-related issues while supporting continuous improvement of prototype designs. Assists in the preparation, execution, and support of vehicle testing in shop, proving ground, and remote test environments to validate vehicle performance, functionality, durability, and reliability. Applies practical mechanical and electrical systems knowledge to support problem resolution, implement engineering changes, and maintain prototype test readiness. Tracks build progress, documents modifications and findings, and ensures timely support of testing activities required to validate new vehicle technologies and product development programs.

What You Drive at DTNA:

- Assist and perform vehicle build activities
- Check and verify operation of the electric and mechanical systems installed to the vehicles
- Assist in troubleshooting of any issues found
- Build, modify, fix mechanical, pneumatic, electrical systems
- Help troubleshoot any issues seen in the vehicle during verification
- Support testing of vehicle at facilities and or remote locations
- Support issue resolution in conjunction with the rest of the team
- Document any issues found and the steps taken to resolve the same
- Discuss and present any electrical and mechanical issues found during the entire lifecycle of the vehicle
- Create/modify/maintain wiring harnesses and test the connections as required

Knowledge You Should Bring:

- Typically requires 3 years of relevant experience or AA degree + 1 year of relevant experience
- Requires proficiency in a range of technical processes and procedures as required of the role
- Works independently with limited degree of oversight within defined processes and procedures
- May assist with determining appropriate approaches for new projects
- Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience
- Ability to obtain CDL (preferred)
