Intermediate Field Technician

INTERMEDIATE FIELD TECHNICIAN

Hands-on environmental fieldwork, wildlife and vegetation monitoring, and technical support, with the curiosity to explore, the expertise to deliver, and the drive to make a meaningful impact in the field.

Location: Calgary, AB & Peterborough, ON

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Intermediate Field Technician to join our field services team. You'll work on-site across a variety of projects — collecting field data, performing tests and inspections, and supporting engineering and environmental teams from planning through project close-out. This role suits someone with a few years of hands-on field experience who is ready to take on more independent assignments and mentor junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct field data collection, sampling, testing, and inspections in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain field testing and monitoring equipment.
• Prepare clear, accurate field notes, logs, and reports to support engineering and client deliverables.
• Coordinate day-to-day field logistics and communicate progress, issues, and site conditions to project staff.
• Support and mentor junior field technicians on-site.
• Follow all PRI health and safety policies and site-specific safety plans; identify and report hazards.
• Travel to project sites as required, including occasional overnight stays.

What You Bring
• Technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Technology, or a related field (or equivalent field experience).
• 2–4 years of relevant field experience in an engineering, environmental, or construction-materials setting as well as 1-2 years of relevant solar field experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean abstract; comfortable with regular travel between sites.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate, organized record-keeping.
• Ability to work independently outdoors in variable weather and site conditions.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills

Assets

• Standard First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, and/or OFA certification.
• Nuclear density gauge certification (e.g., ARDOT 461 or AASHTO T 310).
• Experience with construction materials testing, geotechnical field work, or environmental monitoring.
