Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Proactively foster a learning safety culture by modeling a safe work ethic and promoting the value of open reporting and shared safety responsibility. Follow all safety policies, standards, and procedures in order to achieve a safe and healthy work environment for all staff, customers, and visitors. Similarly support Inland’s environmental commitments by helping to limit our organization’s impact on the ecosystem;

- Actively promote adherence to and hold site employees accountable for leading safety and regulatory compliance with all local, provincial and federal rules and regulations;

- Abide by Inland’s procedural handbooks, operational plans, and directives of management to ensure that all work is done according to specifications and/or regulations;

- Plan and carry out work assignments and handle problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training or accepted company practices and procedures;

- Set up parts supply relationships and accounts with equipment manufacturers;

- Maintain an inventory of all spare replacement parts and ensure that sufficient supplies are kept on hand at all times to minimize unnecessary equipment downtime;

- Source repair parts and send parts to machine shop or equivalent as required;

- Coordinate with corporate manufacturing personnel through the Facility Supervisor in the proper maintenance of Inland owned concentrators and equipment;

- Make daily rounds of the facility to look, hear and touch all running equipment for any signs of abnormal conditions, reporting any negative findings to supervisors and coordinate the necessary corrections;

- Ensure that all required minor repairs are completed when necessary and all major repairs get reported to Facility Supervisor and Operations Manager;
- Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble;

- Dismantling or partly dismantling machines and performing repairs, reassembly of machines and mechanical equipment, and making any necessary adjustments to all equipment for operational optimization;

- Gather required information to develop specific written specifications for repairs and SOPs for minor repairs;

- Oversee facility Preventative Maintenance Program (PMS) for all recycling equipment, as well as recurrent training on Health & Safety issues;

- Report weekly to Facility Supervisor an equipment status report, upcoming PMS to schedule properly, and any inventory purchase requests;

- Coordinate all repairs with Supervisors and/or subcontractors of City or Inland owned equipment as required;

- Communicate daily with team members to ensure that all are informed about equipment status and expected outcome from the next shift on maintenance items that are outstanding;

- Maintain historical maintenance records of all equipment at the facility to include but not limited to, Maintenance logs, trend analysis, lockout & tag out program, hazardous material storage, and any other forms or records deemed necessary by the Processing Lead;

- Advance suggestions and communications with other recycling operations, engineering, technical support staff and management that promote improvement and advances in efficiencies of equipment;

- Supervise and arrange manpower to meet needs of contract requirements in coordination with the plant supervisors, which includes emergency repairs to facility;

- Ensure a safe, clean and hazard free work environment in compliance with Inland and Government regulations and put away and store all unused tools in their proper location, as well as any other item that may be out of place and get lost;

- Assist with all facility and ADF concentrator modifications;

- Work cooperatively and supervise any sub-contractors’ duties;

- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with DIA staff and Inland customers;

- Ensure record keeping and all required reports are clear and concise;

- Be on-call anytime scheduled (day or night) for emergency repairs of facility and Inland equipment;

- Distillation and MVR operation, maintenance and cleaning;

- When the need arises, be PQS (Personal Qualification Standards) qualified to operate any and all system equipment as an operator on a case-by-case basis;

- Cut grass when it is required and time is available;

- Assist with cleaning vehicles when time is available;

- Assist with cleaning plates from MVR’s when time is available;

- Foster a team environment and create a “group culture”;

- Drive and maintain a high level of efficiency and productivity;

- To accomplish any other tasks that may, from time to time, be assigned by management.

Required Skills and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent;

- Minimum of 2 years experience performing mechanical/electrical maintenance;

- Proven knowledge and use of standard and specialty tools and specialized testing equipment (i.e. photo tachometer, diagnostics tools and hardware, scanners and meters);

- Knowledge of fluid types, diesel powered machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance;

- Effective time management and organizational skills to manipulate multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced environment;

- Ability to work independently showing good judgement;
- Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel);

- Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively;

- Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent;

- Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

- Ability to work as part of a team;

- Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude;

- Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.

Certifications/Licenses:

- Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company insurance standards;

- Valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) considered an asset;

- Valid Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP) considered an asset;

- Class 3 Driver’s License considered an asset.

Physical Demands:

- It is expected that the candidate be physically fit and able to perform all operational requirements;

- Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds regularly;

- Employees must have the ability to climb 15-foot heights for work;

- Position involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time as well as bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing, using hands to control tools and feel objects, reaching with hands and arms;

- Work outdoors for long periods when necessary;

- Ability to work in a confined space for extended periods of time;

- Wearing of personal protective equipment when required and full mobility allowing for freedom of movement in high-risk environment;

- Must be able to speak clearly and hear efficiently;

- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus;

- May be required to move, connect, disconnect hoses and be able to operate industrial valves and perform general labor duties.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

- This is a full-time position with a minimum expectation of 40 hours worked per week.

Security Clearance:

- Must be able to pass pre-employment background check.
