Job Title: Manufacturing Procurement Specialist Job Description
This role supports procurement operations within a manufacturing environment by sourcing materials and services, negotiating with suppliers, managing purchase orders in an ERP system, and ensuring on-time delivery of materials to meet project and production schedules. The position offers exposure to full-cycle procurement, direct collaboration with suppliers and internal teams, and the opportunity to influence cost savings, vendor performance, and long-term procurement strategies within a growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Source materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations and project deadlines.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and quality standards with multiple suppliers to secure competitive and reliable supply agreements.
- Create, issue, and manage purchase orders in an ERP or MRP system, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely processing.
- Coordinate inventory transfers and supplier transactions to maintain appropriate material levels for production and project needs.
- Evaluate multiple vendor quotes, perform cost analysis, and recommend best-value solutions that align with project and budget requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering partnerships that support long-term quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Monitor supplier performance, including delivery reliability, responsiveness, and adherence to quality expectations, and address issues as they arise.
- Track and manage backorders, expedite deliveries, and resolve procurement issues that may impact production or project schedules.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, project management, operations, and procurement team members to align purchasing activities with project requirements.
- Support resolution of delivery, quality, or invoice discrepancies, including participation in NCRs, RMAs, or corrective action processes as needed.
- Provide material costing support for project estimates and proposals, contributing to accurate and competitive bids.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes, cost savings, and vendor performance.
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buying experience.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or production environment.
- Proven experience sourcing suppliers and negotiating pricing, lead times, and terms.
- Hands-on purchase order management experience, including creation, tracking, and follow-up.
- Experience evaluating vendor quotes and making informed purchasing decisions based on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers and internal teams.
- Experience using ERP or MRP systems to manage procurement activities, purchase orders, and inventory transactions.
- Ability to coordinate with supply chain, engineering, and project teams to support production and project timelines.
- Demonstrated capability to monitor backorders, expedite deliveries, and resolve procurement issues impacting schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience supporting engineering or project-based manufacturing organizations.
- Experience with nonconformance reports (NCRs), return material authorizations (RMAs), or corrective action processes.
- Vendor invoice resolution experience, including addressing discrepancies and coordinating corrections.
- Experience providing material costing support for project estimates and proposals.
- Advanced ERP or MRP system experience, including reporting and procurement analytics.
- Interest in career growth into senior procurement or procurement leadership roles.
- Exposure to specialized or highly regulated manufacturing environments is beneficial.
Work Environment
The role is primarily based in an office environment with frequent interaction across procurement, engineering, project management, operations, and supplier contacts. The position involves occasional visits to manufacturing or fabrication areas, providing direct visibility into production processes and material usage. The work setting is fast-paced and closely aligned with active project schedules, requiring responsiveness and adaptability to shifting priorities. During business-critical periods, overtime may be necessary to ensure materials and services are in place to support production and project commitments.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
