The Job

The Advisory MSSQL and MongoDB database administration position is responsible for ongoing administration, performance, resilience and overall architecture of SQL Server and MongoDB database technologies and ancillary database support systems. As Advisory DBA, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively. This position will report to the Offshore DBA Manager and will provide regular updates, status, and escalations as needed.   In addition, this position will interface with both Infrastructure IT groups as well as Application client members towards the overall goal of a high performance, stable and 99.99% service uptime of the Pitney Bowes applications.   The team member will also work on projects related to new technology adoption related to database or database tool technologies.

Qualifications & Skills

Required qualifications for the role:

- 6+ years of experience as core MSSQL . Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS
- 1+ years of experience as core MongoDB .
- Solid hands-on experience working independently on projects, administration, performance tuning of MSSQL and other database technologies.

- Expertise in Handling high availabilities like Replication, Always-on setup.
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality.
- Ability to organize and plan work independently.
- Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams.

- Bachelor’s Engineering in related Computer Science field or equivalent.

Responsibilities :

- Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
- Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
- AWS Security, Storage, Monitoring, Governance & Cost management
- Architectural knowledge to design, build AWS cloud native solutions.

Preferred qualifications for role:

- MSSQL and MongoDB Certifications
- AWS Certification
