Electrical Inspector

Job Title: Electrical Inspector Job Description The Electrical Inspector will support a large, four-building data center campus project by providing on-site inspection and quality assurance for electrical and mechanical systems. This role focuses on verifying that all work complies with contract documents, codes, and standards, and that installations are completed correctly and ready for commissioning. The inspector will not perform commissioning but must understand the commissioning process and will play a key role in ensuring systems such as switchgear, UPS/ATS, and PDU equipment are installed to a high standard of quality and safety. Responsibilities

- Work full-time on site at a multi-building data center campus, supporting construction activities across four buildings at different phases of construction.
- Perform routine examinations and checks of ongoing work to ensure quality of installation and execution is maintained in accordance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Verify that all work in place conforms to contract documents and applicable global, national, and local standards for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Conduct visual inspections of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) equipment and systems, including rough-ins, to confirm proper installation and configuration.
- Verify that equipment and systems are installed free of defects or damage and that required access to installed products, such as mechanical valves, access doors, and clearances, is maintained.
- Observe mechanical and electrical rough-ins to confirm proper routing, support, and organization of conduit and other systems, ensuring clean, tidy, and code-compliant installations.
- Evaluate the contractors means and methods for compliance with the most stringent applicable standards and immediately notify the owner of any deficiencies or non-conforming work.
- Ensure that non-conforming work is identified and that all deficiencies are corrected before contractors build upon or conceal the work.
- Assess whether the final installed product achieves the appropriate level of finish and is ready to proceed into the commissioning start-up phase.
- Evaluate that proper levels of protection for equipment and systems are maintained throughout construction to prevent damage or contamination.
- Review SCCS (short-circuit current studies), breaker settings, and arc flash labels to ensure they are accurate, appropriate, and consistent with design and safety requirements.
- Review NETA testing for electrical systems to confirm tests are performed correctly and that results meet required standards and specifications.
- Conduct FOD (foreign object debris) inspections in active construction areas to support a safe and orderly work environment and protect equipment and systems.
- Assist with evaluating conduit installations for proper support, alignment, and workmanship, ensuring they meet quality and safety expectations.
- Perform turnover services by verifying that all inspection forms and observation statuses are complete, accurate, and up to date.
- Prepare thorough quality documentation and observations for turnover to the commissioning team, supporting a smooth transition into commissioning.
- Conduct final quality verification walks with the owner to confirm systems and installations are ready for commissioning and meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with construction, quality, and commissioning teams to resolve issues, clarify requirements, and support timely project progress.
- Maintain detailed inspection records, observation logs, and quality reports to document compliance and track resolution of deficiencies.

Essential Skills

- 510 years of experience in construction inspection, quality control, or construction management with a strong focus on electrical and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated experience working on data center projects or similarly complex, mission-critical facilities.
- Extensive experience with electrical-focused inspection, including switchgear, UPS/ATS systems, and PDU systems.
- Strong experience inspecting mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, including rough-ins and equipment installation.
- Hands-on experience conducting SCCS reviews, breaker settings reviews, and arc flash label verification.
- Experience reviewing NETA testing for electrical systems and interpreting test results.
- Experience conducting FOD inspections in active construction environments.
- Proven ability to verify work against contract documents, drawings, and specifications and to ensure compliance with all requirements.
- Ability to identify non-conforming work, document deficiencies, and ensure corrective actions are taken before subsequent work proceeds.
- Strong understanding of applicable global, national, and local codes and standards related to mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to prepare, maintain, and organize inspection forms, observation logs, and quality documentation for turnover and commissioning.
- Familiarity with the commissioning process and requirements for preparing systems for commissioning, even though this is not a commissioning role.
- OSHA 10 certification (minimum).

- Experience working in data centers or other high-availability, mission-critical environments.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections and documentation.
- Ability to communicate clearly with project stakeholders, including owners, general contractors, and commissioning teams.
- Capability to work independently on a large construction site while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfort working across multiple buildings and phases of construction within a large campus environment.

Work Environment This role is 100% on site at a data center campus in Frederick, MD, supporting four buildings at different stages of construction. The position operates in an active construction environment, with frequent movement between buildings and work areas to perform inspections of electrical, mechanical, and MEP systems. The inspector will work closely with construction and commissioning teams, using standard construction and inspection tools, documentation systems, and testing reports such as SCCS, NETA testing, and arc flash label reviews. The schedule allows individuals who are not local to travel home on weekends, with an early finish on Fridays, although travel to and from home is at the inspectors own expense. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $145000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
