Production Planning Intern - Grand Rapids Site

As a Production Planning Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting aerospace manufacturing operations and supply chain activities. Working alongside experienced Operations and Supply Chain professionals, you will contribute to production planning, scheduling, material coordination, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact operational performance and customer delivery.
This internship is ideal for students pursuing careers in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business Operations who are eager to apply classroom learning in a real-world manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

- Production Planning & Scheduling
- Assist in developing and maintaining production schedules aligned to the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
- Support the release and tracking of work orders to meet production priorities.
- Monitor schedule performance and identify potential risks to on-time delivery.
- Help evaluate labor, material, and equipment capacity requirements.
- Support production sequencing and workflow planning across manufacturing operations.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze production, inventory, and planning data to support decision-making.
- Assist in creating dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Utilize tools such as Excel, Power BI, SAP, or related systems to support operations.
- Material & Capacity Planning
- Monitor material shortages and support shortage management activities.
- Partner with Procurement, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to help resolve constraints.
- Assist with capacity planning and resource analysis.
- Support inventory management and planning initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects.
- Support Kaizen events and problem-solving activities.
- Assist in documenting and improving planning processes and standard work.
- Help maintain planning data accuracy within ERP/MRP systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Participate in operational meetings and planning reviews.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams.
- Communicate schedule risks and recovery actions to stakeholders.
- Support special projects that improve operational performance

Required Qualifications

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in: Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics or Related field
- Sophomore standing or higher preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability toThis position may require access to information, technology, software, or hardware that is subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations. To comply with these requirements, applicants must qualify as a US Person. work in a fast-paced team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous internship, co-op, project, or coursework related to manufacturing, operations, or supply chain.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP.
- Experience with Power BI or data visualization tools.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma concepts.
- Interest in aerospace manufacturing and operations.
