Supervisor, Maintenance, Die Shop

The Die Shop is part of the Materials Engineering group responsible for the build, launch and handover of Tesla’s high pressure die casting dies, used for vehicle programs. This team is focused on achieving the highest efficiency, manufacturing volume and safety.

As a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor in the Die Shop, you will manage a small group of equipment maintenance and controls technicians that are responsible for equipment availability, and performance. This person will ensure the preventative maintenance and repair on a variety of electro-mechanical, robotic, and pneumatic manufacturing equipment is scheduled and executed correctly. The Supervisor will develop and improve maintenance and calibration schedules for all tools, machinery and equipment used in the manufacturing facility. This position requires up to 20% domestic and international travel.

- Provide effective supervision, training and coaching to assigned maintenance employees to achieve the required equipment up time, equipment repairs, and production goals while maintaining department records and inventories
- Ensure that standard operating procedures and engineering procedures are current, accurate and that all work is done in compliance to ensure maximum quality
- Create skill matrix for maintenance and controls technicians, owning their hiring, professional development, and performance management; monitor to ensure that all employees comply with safety regulations and the plant's safety program
- Work with employees to resolve technical and machine problems, and schedule preventive maintenance to effectively meet production needs
- Provide the shift-to-shift communication link to keep all team members working toward the same goals, while communicating to employees all issues that affect the plant
- Create a critical spare part list in Flux and ensure spare part availability for scheduled and emergency maintenance
- Oversee equipment upgrades and refurbishment projects, effectively coordinating with vendor support

- 4+ years of industrial maintenance supervisory or similar leadership experience, with a strong preference for backgrounds in CNC machining and high-volume manufacturing experience
- Strong preventive maintenance development experience, including familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance principles
- Ability to establish and execute goals and deadlines while being accountable for quality and quantity, using a Lean Manufacturing approach
- Ability to allocate resources and efforts effectively towards multiple demanding tasks with competing priorities
- Experience in hydraulics/pneumatics troubleshooting using prints and PLC troubleshooting and programming (Allen Bradley/Siemens)
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Ability to travel up to 20% Domestic and International
