The Manager, Global Effectiveness & Initiatives contributes to the success of the Global AML (Anti-Money Laundering) function by supporting the execution and delivery of initiatives that enhance the effectiveness, quality, and performance of AML Investigations globally, aligned to the Target Operating Model and enterprise priorities.
The role supports initiative delivery, analysis, and continuous improvement efforts across quality control, training, capacity management, and performance.
This role partners with stakeholders to support timely execution, measurable outcomes, and sustain improvements in investigative effectiveness.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Initiatives & Delivery:
Support execution and delivery of AML Investigations initiatives across people, process, tools, and operating model components. Translate ambiguous problems into structured workplans, deliverables, and outputs to drive progress and enable decision-making. Track timelines, dependencies, and stakeholder deliverables, escalating risks or delays as required.
- Quality Control:
Execute components of quality control frameworks, including monitoring, testing, and reporting on investigation quality. Identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities, supporting development of enhancements to quality standards and practices. Produce analysis and reporting to inform quality-related decisions and performance improvements.
- Training & Capability Development:
Support the development, rollout, and maintenance of investigator training programs in partnership with the AML Academy. Track training completion, effectiveness, and capability gaps, producing insights to inform development priorities.
- Capacity & Performance Analysis:
Apply standardized approaches to support capacity management, workload analysis, and resource allocation. Produce data-driven insights and reporting to identify capacity risks, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities.
- Regulatory, Audit & Issue Support:
Support coordination of responses to regulatory requests, audit findings, and 2nd-line reviews, ensuring timely and accurate execution. Maintain issue tracking, root cause analysis, and remediation activities, ensuring adherence to timelines and documentation standards.
- Analysis, Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
Review management information reports and analytics to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities. Develop data-driven insights to support decision-making and operational effectiveness. Support process improvements and remediation of system or control deficiencies.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
Partner across AML Investigations, regional second line AML Investigation Units or FIUs (Financial Intelligence Units), and cross-functional teams to support aligned execution and standards adoption. Share best practices, lessons learned, and emerging risks to strengthen global consistency. Support collaboration with Transaction Monitoring and other stakeholders on issue management, reporting, and process enhancements.
- VP Support:
Support the strategic execution of the VP Support mandate, including centralized people and engagement activities such as Pulse, employee engagement and recognition initiatives, year-end performance processes, compensation planning inputs, and internal communications.
- Systems & Methodologies:
Support implementation of AML methodologies and monitoring tools to address evolving money laundering (ML) / terrorist financing (TF) risks. Develop working knowledge of case management systems, bank systems, and analytics tools.
- Flexibility & Cross-Coverage:
Support priorities across the broader Global Design & Standards function to ensure continuity of delivery, cross-coverage, and alignment across initiatives, including standards, quality, training, and capacity management.
- Governance & Risk Culture:
Understand and apply the Bank’s Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and risk culture in day-to-day activities. Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and control frameworks, escalating risks where required.
- People & Culture:

- Standard HR / Conduct / Risk Accountabilities:

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:
- University degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in AML, Audit, Consulting, Financial Crime, Risk Management, or a related field, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Strong sense of ownership; proactive and responsive in driving deliverables to completion.
- Thrives in ambiguous and dynamic environments, with the ability to manage competing priorities and pivot as needs evolve.
- Leverages technology and AI tools to drive efficiency, quality, and speed of delivery.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment, influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including development of clear, structured presentations and materials.
- Solid knowledge of AML frameworks, regulatory requirements, and Canadian AML regulations, with international exposure as an asset.
- Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and attention to detail, with strong leadership capability.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational capability, including the ability to identify gaps, assess risks, and propose practical solutions.
- Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, support stakeholder coordination, and contribute to continuous improvement and operational enhancement initiatives.
- Proficiency in Spanish is an asset.
