Overnight Supervisor

Job Title: Overnight Supervisor
Department: Grocery Operations / Overnight Operations
Reports To: Store Director / Assistant Store Director

Position Purpose

The Overnight Supervisor is responsible for leading all overnight store operations, including stocking, merchandising, inventory replenishment, store recovery, and overnight associate development. This position ensures the store is fully stocked, merchandised, clean, and prepared for opening while achieving productivity, safety, and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Overnight Operations Leadership

- Direct and oversee all overnight stocking and merchandising activities.
- Ensure nightly workloads are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Coordinate stocking priorities and labor resources to maximize efficiency.
- Verify store readiness prior to opening each day.
- Monitor overnight productivity and operational performance.

Leadership & Team Development

- Lead, train, coach, and develop overnight associates.
- Assign daily responsibilities and monitor completion of assigned tasks.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and results-driven work environment.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management activities.
- Communicate company initiatives, operational priorities, and safety expectations.

Inventory & Merchandising

- Ensure merchandise is stocked, rotated, faced, and displayed according to company standards.
- Monitor out-of-stock conditions and inventory concerns.
- Coordinate unloading and stocking of deliveries.
- Oversee ad changes, seasonal displays, and merchandising programs.
- Ensure pricing, signage, and promotional execution meet company standards.

Store Recovery & Readiness

- Ensure the sales floor, aisles, end caps, and displays are properly conditioned and recovery standards are maintained.
- Verify cleanliness of sales floor, stockrooms, and work areas.
- Coordinate department recovery efforts throughout the store.
- Ensure the store is customer-ready at opening.

Safety & Compliance

- Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all company safety standards.
- Ensure proper use of equipment including pallet jacks, balers, compactors, ladders, and stocking equipment.
- Monitor workplace hazards and take corrective action when needed.
- Enforce company policies and operational procedures.
- Conduct safety walks and maintain awareness of store security during overnight hours.

Financial & Operational Performance

- Support achievement of sales, labor, productivity, and shrink goals.
- Monitor labor utilization and staffing effectiveness.
- Assist leadership in controlling operating expenses.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and operational performance.

Customer Service

- Provide exceptional customer service to customers shopping during overnight and early morning hours.
- Assist customers with product locations, inquiries, and service requests.
- Promote a customer-focused culture among overnight associates.
