Design Standardization Architect I

Role Overview

You will partner with design, manufacturing, and global process stakeholders to document current practices, standardize design rules and templates, and support design automation across product lines. This role is focused on building a repeatable engineering foundation for EOM , 3D/2D drawing structures , and BOM standardization within the PDP/D3 process.

What will you do?

- Establish, document, and maintain Data Center Products design processes through cross-functional discovery workshops, design-for-manufacturing reviews, and collaboration with manufacturing and engineering design centers.
- Standardize design rules, guidelines, templates, and process cadence within the product development process.
- Act as product line architect for EOM structure, 3D model structure, 2D drawing structure, and BOM standardization.
- Support the design automation team by developing cross-product-line tools, templates, and data structures.
- Support deployment, testing, training, and global adoption of standardized design methodology.
- Contribute to product development and sustaining activities with a focus on consistency, quality, and scalability.

- You will stay close to the work by partnering with designers, manufacturing teams, and process owners to remove friction and support practical solutions.
- You will use candor, structured problem-solving, and continuous improvement to refine processes, templates, and design data structures over time.
- You will work as one team, building trust across functions and using diverse perspectives to improve standardization outcomes.
- Use workshops, reviews, and follow-up discussions to align stakeholders on process changes and adoption needs.
- Balance engineering detail with scalable governance so standards remain usable across global product teams.
- Support training and testing activities so new methods are understood, validated, and successfully deployed.

What are we looking for?

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- 5-10 years of experience with product businesses, equipment design, documentation, and configurable product manufacturing.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a designer.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel up to 10-20% domestically and internationally.

Nice to Have

- Experience with Creo 3D Modeling software or an equivalent platform.
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, MAPICS, or AS/400.
- Experience with bill of material configurators such as eLogia or VC.
