Sustainable Design Analyst

ZGF is seeking a talented and professional Sustainable Design Analyst with 3+ years’ experience to join our team in New York, NY  to support and provide direction on projects within the firm.

As a Sustainable Design Analyst , you will….

- Work with architecture teams, consultants, and clients to develop design strategies that meet the sustainable vision and project goals.

- Support the delivery of projects based in US and Canada in their pursuit of higher building performance including complex multi-phased higher education, large transit, healthcare, civic and/or commercial development projects.

- Support sustainability certification efforts for programs such as WELL, LEED and Living Building Challenge, and Zero Carbon certification.

- Lead project Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and work collaboratively with others toward design optimization.

- Perform other sustainable design analyses, as needed and within your experience and capabilities, including daylighting, solar shading, thermal comfort, energy, carbon intensity and material health.

- Summarize and communicate analyses through visual and data-intensive graphics and assist teams in communicating results and recommendations to our clients and consultants.

- Research innovative products and materials and assess for sustainability, health, and performance.

- Develop, maintain, and improve workflows on tools focused on LCA, carbon intensity, and other analysis types.

- Train design staff to utilize and complete project analyses, including LCAs, climate, daylight, and solar studies.

- Contribute to general office-wide initiatives and marketing efforts around our project performance work.

- Demonstrate motivation in seeking new responsibilities and challenges.

Qualifications:

- Experience with sustainable standards; such as LEED, WELL, Living Building Challenge and Passive House training and/or accreditation considered an asset.

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management, Environmental Design, Building Science or related field.

- Proficient in MS Office Suite.  Experience in Revit, Rhino, Adobe Suite, and other modeling, graphic, and scripting considered an asset.

- Creative problem solver with well-rounded analysis skills and the ability to work independently, with multi-disciplined teams, and balance multiple projects. Ability to work with short schedules and deadlines.

- Proficient with OneClick LCA, Tally, EC3, and/or other LCA software.

- Experience with Grasshopper for Rhino, Climate Studio, LightStanza, IES, or other sustainable performance building analysis software.

- Ability to understand, produce and convey metrics related to daylight, glare, outdoor comfort, and similar analysis methods related to occupant experience.

- Demonstrated ability to graphically illustrate and verbally communicate sustainability concepts in a clear and effective manner.

- Organizational and critical thinking skills to create materials for engaging and creative presentations through storytelling.

- Experience and proficiency in navigating and utilizing architectural project documents, including drawing sets and specifications.

Base Salary Range

$70,000 - $90,000 annually depending on skills and experience
