Job Description:
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and professional environment throughout Red Bank Veterinary Hospital . This position plays an important role in supporting patient care, employee safety, client satisfaction, and the overall operation of the hospital.

The Housekeeper will clean and maintain clinical and non-clinical areas while following hospital cleaning procedures, infection-control practices, chemical-handling requirements, and established safety standards. Because Red Bank Veterinary Hospital operates in an emergency veterinary environment, the Housekeepe r must be able to respond promptly and professionally to changing priorities and urgent cleanup requests.

Responsibilities:
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout assigned areas of the hospital.
- Clean and disinfect clinical areas in accordance with established hospital procedures.
- Clean and maintain common areas, including entrances, hallways, waiting areas, offices, and staff areas.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including fixtures, sinks, toilets, floors, and high-touch surfaces.
- Clean and maintain elevators, stairwells, handrails, doors, and other high-traffic areas.
- Remove and properly dispose of general trash and other waste in accordance with hospital procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness around trash collection areas and ensure waste is transported to designated locations.
- Respond promptly to cleanup calls from clinical staff, including spills, accidents, bodily-fluid contamination, and other unexpected cleaning needs.
- Respond to assignments and requests from the Facilities Manager and/or Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining areas outside of the normal assigned work area when operational needs require additional support.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces to help maintain a safe and sanitary hospital environment.
- Restock housekeeping supplies, paper products, soap, and other assigned materials as needed.
- Properly use, label, store, and handle cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with safety requirements.
- Operate housekeeping equipment safely and report equipment problems or needed repairs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Report unsafe conditions, maintenance concerns, spills, damage, or other facility issues to the Facilities Manager or supervisor.
- Follow hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection prevention, hazardous materials, waste handling, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude when interacting with clients, veterinarians, technicians, hospital staff, and visitors.
- Protect patient, client, and hospital confidentiality at all times.
- Work cooperatively with other housekeeping and maintenance employees to ensure daily departmental responsibilities are completed.
- Assist with special cleaning projects, deep cleaning, seasonal cleaning, and other facility assignments as directed.
EMERGENCY & CLINICAL RESPONSE
Due to the nature of an emergency veterinary hospital, this position requires flexibility and the ability to respond to urgent cleaning needs throughout the facility.

The Housekeeper may be required to respond to:
- Animal accidents or bodily-fluid spills.
- Urgent cleaning requests from clinical departments.
- Contaminated or heavily soiled areas.
- High-traffic areas requiring immediate attention.
- Unexpected spills, breakage, or safety hazards.
- Additional cleaning assignments during periods of increased hospital activity.
The Housekeeper must be able to prioritize these requests appropriately while continuing to complete scheduled daily responsibilities.

CUSTOMER SERVICE & TEAMWORK
The Housekeeper is an important member of the hospital support team. The position requires regular interaction with clinical and administrative staff and should be performed with professionalism, courtesy, and respect.

Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping, janitorial, environmental services, healthcare, veterinary, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and housekeeping equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attendance, punctuality, reliability, and dependability.
- Ability to work respectfully and professionally around animals, clients, and hospital personnel.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role ; fluency in multiple languages a plus! 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and climb stairs.
- Push and pull housekeeping equipment and carts.
- Lift and carry cleaning supplies, trash bags, and equipment.
- Perform repetitive cleaning motions for extended periods.
- Work in areas that may be wet, humid, noisy, or subject to strong odors.
- Wear required PPE when performing assigned duties.
- Safely navigate a busy emergency veterinary hospital environment.
