Where Craftsmanship and Education Meet.

Depending upon your qualifications, there is an opportunity to step in at any of our three tiers of craftsmen:

The Tier 1 Band Instrument Repair Technician role is designed for new graduates and early career technicians who want to build a real career, not just get a first job. At Schmitt Music, youll take what you learned in school and apply it in a professional, supportive environment where mentorship, growth, and clear expectations are built into the role.

Youll work alongside experienced technicians who answer questions, provide feedback, and help you refine your craft. Each day builds confidence, skill, and readiness for the next level.

Tier 2 technicians are developing professionals who have built a strong foundation and are ready for more responsibility. This role bridges early-career learning and senior-level mastery, offering increased autonomy while continuing to grow technical depth and judgment.

As a Tier 2 technician, your day balances efficiency and problem-solving. Youll recondition company-owned instruments while also taking on select customer owned repairs. Youll evaluate instruments, recommend repairs, and work closely with retail staff and educators. Your bench time is complemented by collaboration, decision-making, and preparation for senior-level responsibilities.

As a Tier 3 technician, no two days are the same. Your time is spent diagnosing complex mechanical and playability issues, performing advanced repairs, and mentoring developing technicians.
